Are Russia’s defeats in Ukraine causing a shift in public opinion? | DW News ctm magazine

Ukraine’s recent successes have left some opponents of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s war emboldened to speak out against the Kremlin. One of Russia’s most celebrated pop stars, Alla Pugachova has asked to be declared a foreign agent, in solidarity with her exiled husband Maxim Galkin. He was designated a foreign agent less than a week ago. In an online post, she said Putin’s war in Ukraine was “killing soldiers for illusory aims”, and turning Russia into a “global pariah”. Is there a shift in Russian public opinion, given Moscow’s recent military set-backs in its war on Ukraine?

Lies, damn lies, and Russian statistics. An overwhelming majority of people scared to death of the Gulag support Putin? Like they did with Saddam Hussein? Get real.

With "vatniks" put on the Soviet soldiers in July 1942 defeated the world's strongest army by Stalingrad. Some people think that word "vatnik" means something shameful. It is just a sort of coat with cotton insulation. The Ukrainian nationalists scorn this word, don't know why. Their grand-grand fathers have won the greatest war in this "vatniks".

  • James Tajiri on September 20, 2022

    Time 4:40 general mobilization:
    1. Would be an admission the special military operation is failing
    2. Would fail because of massive draft evasion, and failure to properly train and equip draftees
    3. Would produces soldiers with poor morale
    4. Would increase opposition to the war, decreasing Putin's approval, especially by destroying the notion of a voluntary force, to now a coercive forced army.
    5. Would be politically dangerous as the war drags on especially as masses of dead Russian draftees/boys come home in body bags
    6. This could increase the chance of regime change in Russia or even fragmentation of the Russian Federation

You would not know. Putin has never been elected honestly. Putin more than likely has never won an election. The only figures that come out of the Kremlin are rigged figures they want you to believe.
