Wonderful recipe Chef John. Thank you for sharing.

  • Z on May 24, 2020

This was a big fail. The chickpeas turnout as hard as rocks. Also, it's dumb to put spices on before you put them in the oven. After an hour in there they will have almost zero aroma or flavour.

  • dorothy jacobs on May 24, 2020

Chef John its very delicious only one comment plz can you sprinkle some tumeric powder also. TQ.

  • Short Gus on May 24, 2020

Sorry but I can't take the voice.

  • Anuradha Ranasinghe on May 24, 2020

    There's a small issue
    Canned chickpeas are cooked already
Do we have to cook the chickpeas after soaking it in water

  • Flavia Hesselbarth on May 25, 2020

Just love this man he cooks real good too. I was just I thinking I should record him, then take him to bed to help Mr. Sandman..

i had 2 tins( well cardboard boxes) in the kitchen , now in the oven, they were labeled as best before something 2019, but that's just a guild line

  • Wake Up on May 27, 2020

Lol sounds like you are eating carrots

  • bladnik on May 30, 2020

Unfortunately, —- your idea of Crunchie-ness is different to mine at 82 Y.O.A. I thought that I was going to get something that would be as "crisby" as a Potato Flake —– !! But the longer I cooked these (over 11/2 hours so far. The harder they seem to get !! A fella could bark a tooth on one of these !! Not my idea of Crunchieness !!

  • sophsterm on May 30, 2020

    Can you boil fresh chickpeas?

  • Christie Trout on May 30, 2020

  • Ballsdeep on June 1, 2020

I have a can of beans and I'm about to move. One less thing to weigh down the pantry box.
    That thing was getting heavy

  • Omar F. on June 3, 2020

Do not eat chickpeas, bad for your liver.

  • Michael Reilly on June 7, 2020

I've been making similar to this for about a month, but just using a saucepan, a little olive oil, garlic and chili. So as I love CRUNCH shall try them in the oven.

  • Finnic on June 11, 2020

Hahaha I like the crunchy sound! 😆 I like the way you said: You will have these things rolling all over your kitchen. 😆

  • antoniio caluso on February 23, 2021

My favorite! Try soaking the dried cps in a watery soy broth, or some other broth. The uuummmaaaammmiii is MUCH-greater!

Actually, pan-glazing the cps is easier. Gives them a dark/sweet(?) flavor, too! Best snack there is 🙂

  • Hồ Như Thuy on March 11, 2021

    Thank you

  • Ami gr on March 21, 2021

    Hi Chef John (:

Can I make it in a pan on a gas stove?

    Thanks,

  • Callum Clark on April 5, 2021

Wow, CJ must get better chickpeas than I did. They came out borderline toothcrackers! I did a batch of tinned ones at the same time. They were ok.
Think I might give them a bit of a boiling next time!

  • Jacob Jones on April 6, 2021

Cumin tastes like white people tacos I can’t eat much of it

  • Peter Dewberry on April 28, 2021

Great recipe! I make them with curry powder.

  • Colleen Mahony on April 28, 2021

    OMG yum.

  • Zeena Dunkeld on May 1, 2021

Delicious! Thank you. I love your musical voice.

  • Lia A. Eastwood on May 11, 2021

So, If I use a low cooking sheet the chickpeas turn into edible Lego on my kitchen floor? Interesting… I am tempted.

  • Artam Studio on May 27, 2021

If you think you're done but they turn out to be too soft and squishy, don't throw them out! Instead, throw them back into a pan and roast for 10-15 minutes at 375. Keep a close eye on them so they don't go too far. Totally salvaged a batch!

  • Ilse on June 24, 2021

I wonder if we could roast them in an air fryer.

  • Probably 2021 on July 24, 2021

These would be great honey roasted

  • Rhodeygirl on August 18, 2021

That's like, six tablespoons at least. Also not helpful when the amounts of the ingredients are listed as a pinch. Soaking for 24 hour the chickpeas are hard as rocks even before the oven. Very disappointed in your recipe.

  • Simon Howard on August 31, 2021

You were fine until the eating noise.

  • Joykeira Joy on September 4, 2021

Of course I'll add 2 tablespoons of oil in my blog which is what I always do when I'm not sure Lol 😂🤣 hilarious Chef John.. I'm loving your recipes and your great way of explaining s

  • mummu liine on September 14, 2021

Sir Food Wishes , you're just awesome, humorous, talented!

  • William Lindemulder on December 19, 2021

How long are they tasty if you store them well?

  • Jacksirrom on January 11, 2022

I've made this a lot now and the border between less crunchy and brown versus rock hard and burned is pretty small. Watch closely after 40 min!
