    This was a big fail. The chickpeas turnout as hard as rocks. Also, it's dumb to put spices on before you put them in the oven. After an hour in there they will have almost zero aroma or flavour.

    There's a small issue
    Canned chickpeas are cooked already
    Do we have to cook the chickpeas after soaking it in water

    i had 2 tins( well cardboard boxes) in the kitchen , now in the oven, they were labeled as best before something 2019, but that's just a guild line

    Unfortunately, —- your idea of Crunchie-ness is different to mine at 82 Y.O.A. I thought that I was going to get something that would be as "crisby" as a Potato Flake —– !! But the longer I cooked these (over 11/2 hours so far. The harder they seem to get !! A fella could bark a tooth on one of these !! Not my idea of Crunchieness !!

    I've been making similar to this for about a month, but just using a saucepan, a little olive oil, garlic and chili. So as I love CRUNCH shall try them in the oven.

    My favorite! Try soaking the dried cps in a watery soy broth, or some other broth. The uuummmaaaammmiii is MUCH-greater!

    Actually, pan-glazing the cps is easier. Gives them a dark/sweet(?) flavor, too! Best snack there is 🙂

    Wow, CJ must get better chickpeas than I did. They came out borderline toothcrackers! I did a batch of tinned ones at the same time. They were ok.
    Think I might give them a bit of a boiling next time!

    If you think you're done but they turn out to be too soft and squishy, don't throw them out! Instead, throw them back into a pan and roast for 10-15 minutes at 375. Keep a close eye on them so they don't go too far. Totally salvaged a batch!

    That's like, six tablespoons at least. Also not helpful when the amounts of the ingredients are listed as a pinch. Soaking for 24 hour the chickpeas are hard as rocks even before the oven. Very disappointed in your recipe.

    I've made this a lot now and the border between less crunchy and brown versus rock hard and burned is pretty small. Watch closely after 40 min!
