Ever since I tried that first tofu salmon recipe I’ve been thinking about how to make it better. First I thought the marinade needed to be better, then I wanted to work on the texture a bit and last the final seasonings and outright salmon flavor. Thats why I decided to try Kenji Lopez’s Miso Salmon recipe ON the upgraded vegan tofu salmon and WOW did it pop!! THIS is going to be the new way you make VEGAN SALMON!

But salmon is so healthy. Amazing fatty acid profile. Great source of clean protein, even with the skin.

Even a non vegan like myself has a love for anything tofu from my time living in japan. I'm going to have to give this a shot sometime. It looks really good!

  • twalrus1 on October 4, 2021

Why do Vegans try to make tofu be like meat? Have you noticed that Carnivores never make meat look like tofu? Making tofu look like meat is sort of like trying to make your wife look like your ex.
Why not just be satisfied with tofu?? (and let your wife look like herself)

Lol u using this big ass knife at the end 😂😂

  • Craig dinkle on October 4, 2021

I’d just buy a salmon at this point.

  • Craig dinkle on October 4, 2021

    Also methylecellulose is a laxative

  • MitchellelOfGH on October 4, 2021

Can you do a “salmon” w/out tofu please?
Not sure what else you could use as an alternative.. But I’m sure you’ll come up w/ something.. lol

  • daksmom1999 on October 6, 2021

I have never eaten salmon, I have never seen salmon in a restaurant, in a grocery store. I don’t even know what texture it has after it has been sautéed. But I have a question, because I think I want to try this recipe. And, this question is mostly for Mark, it if anyone knows the answer, please respond….would the tofu make a better salmon if the freeze/thaw method for the tofu was used? Tofu has a very different texture to it when the freeze/thaw method is used, so I was wondering if using that method would give a more realistic mouthfeel than using the method used in this video.

Does the rice paper look like a salmon skin

  • Anni Ngl on October 6, 2021

  • Flynn Forgeau on October 6, 2021

Such a great channel to prove that you can really make anything plant based and very tasty!

  • H RyghPed on October 7, 2021

Could you use Xantham gum instead of methylcellulose, we can't seem to get that over here?

  • kudrat bains on October 7, 2021

Could you maybe do a comprehensive vegan sushi recipe?? That would be amazing, I've been trying to find something like that for a while.

  • Imani Canady on October 7, 2021

I love this but it seems like it would take forever you have to marinate for an hour and then freeze for another hour and that was before you even cooked

  • 28heyjoe on October 7, 2021

    Toh foo

  • Pedro Luiz Leone Gonçalves on October 8, 2021

I would love to try this recipe but it is absolutely impossible to buy methylcellulose here in Brazil. The closest thing that I can find is Carboxymethyl cellulose, do you know if it can be used in the same way? Thanks!

  • Big Sexy on October 15, 2021

Why not just eat real salmon?

  • Asher Grows on October 15, 2021

I wonder what type of texture it would create if you poked a bunch of vermicelli type rice noodles into tofu before marinating and cooking

  • PrimeBeefer on October 17, 2021

Funny observation. To get a proper even cook it would be better to have a uniform thickness throughout the whole thing. However in order to look like salmon it has to have a wedge shape.

Rice paper comes in square shapes too. I find that there’s no waste using the squares.

So I’m curious Methylcellulose is a bulk-forming laxative does this fish have any side effects?

  • Katherine Jiménez on November 16, 2021

    Amazing how much? 😊

  • amp on November 17, 2021

love your channel as someone who doesnt eat meat but no offence this is just flavored colored tofu looks delicious though. Unfortunately, while fake meats like fake pork, beef, and even chicken to some extent have been able to be replicated to a somewhat convincing degree seafood is just impossible to replicate. I personally have accepted i will never have seafood again instead of trying to make fake seafood. However, appreciate your channel and work, and this recipe is delicious.

  • Michael Ramczyk on November 20, 2021

    I'd rather eat salmon…
