I have been wanting to try Soy Curls for a while now, but really I just always thought they were pretty much the same as TVP… WOW was I wrong!! This is my new favorite fake meat substitute. There are tons of vegan meats available now and trying to find one that works for so many dishes can be hard.. With soy curls we can get crazy!! You can make burgers, pulled sandwiches, stir fry, its endless.
Today I’m going to make an asian inspired dish, a vegan “pulled pork” sandwich, and a soy curl burger!! That last one I’m really excited about!

    Thanks for the burger recipe. I made it and it is really tasty. Great flavor. My wife said best veggie burger ever. I also froze and used later and worked just fine.

    I've been using soy curls for over a year, definitely one of the cheapest and quickest meat replacements. I've seen a Hungarian chef make burgers from them, but a bit differently.
    Even non-vegans who don't have a lot of money eat it occasionally, because it's a lot cheaper than real meat.

    How do the soy curls compare with the TVP? they look similar. They are both difficult for me to get a hold of, but TVP is slightly easier to get, os wondering if it's worth the extra effort to go with the curls?

    Hydrate with just water. Rinse and squeeze well. Rehydrate with flavored broth. Even better taste

    My best tip with working with soy curls, is to skip the hydration step. Mix up your flavorful liquid and throw it in your saute pan with the dry soy curls. Cook them down until the water has completely absorbed and evaporated out, and your left with soy curls that are much more firm and flavorful.

    I.see youve taken my comments down? How sad I' m a really polite person and have bedn vegan since 1977 ,so yeah probably know z tjing or two about meat substitutes! What I WAS going to.say was I.used a different kind of soya strips that cost me online just £3 for a huge bag as Butlers soy curls cost 75 dollars or £58 a bag online..I used an absorbtion method & used vegan chicken stock ,organic tomato sauce ,paprika & because I' m British added a bit of Marmite ..it was the best stiry ( used udon noodles) I' ve eaten in my life…one bowl 7 hrs ago & I' m still full ..added lots of veges ! So thanks for sharing this idea even though I did something else with it…I can see myself making some amazing Cornish pasties ( check them out) they are delicious SW England pastries…they also will make a mean ' beef' curry..to British folks get the Marmite out !

    I am excited that you tried soy curls! I love them! You honestly don't need half an hour of soaking, unless the sot curls aren't super fresh. 10 or 15 minutes will do with hot water.

    My local Asian supermarket has curls but they look more like soy ties. I've tried them just like the first demonstration and they're awesome. I haven't tried them in a burger yet.
