    It's just chicken flavored bread

  • Nauqeas on September 28, 2021

Shanggie was renamed Lee Brand. And you cannot assume it is vegan or plant based, because to make the "artificial chicken flavor", sometimes they use lactose. The only way to find out if it is truly vegan is to contact the manufacturer.

Since you are so good at coming up with immitation recipes would you try figuring out the spices in Zenners Louisiana hot and spicy sausage. If you haven't eaten it it maybe impossible – just thought I would ask. They make the sausage in Portland and it is only in the stores there.

Hey Mark!! Just a quick question!! Can we replace the washing of regular flour with Vital Wheat Gluten? Makes it that much easier for us busy bees!!??

  • First Last on September 28, 2021

Gave meat up over 18 months ago, I was doing this a lot at the beginning of my meat free journey….. just glad there are more videos on it now…. Very detailed take on it… thank you 👍🙏🙏🙏

in austria we eat grilled chicken. i always use that flavoured spices to flavour my soja like chicken. i first use oil, put the grilled-chicken spices in and marinade the granulated soja in that. its possible to grill it over fire or in the oven.

  • Rebecca Lilley on September 29, 2021

Awesome! Love your videos! Without doing the plaiting method to get a unidirectional grain going, how were the gluten strands oriented with this one? Thank you for making epic vegan content!

  • Pedro Luiz Leone Gonçalves on September 29, 2021

This has probably convinced me to finally make seitan from washed flour. Hope I don't waste half a kilo of flour!

  • Chilo Sim on September 30, 2021

WOW – finally a vegan recipe that I can actually do "on the regular" easily.

  • m1cajah on September 30, 2021

Looks interesting, but too much work/time (ain’t nobody got time for that, lol). Kinda neat how that wet dough ball looks like a giant mozzarella ball!

I’ll just buy VWG and march on.

  • Rishab A on September 30, 2021

    Isn’t gluten unhealthy for us?

  • Namlem on September 30, 2021

How would you compare VWG to WTF seitan?

  • Lookup 2 One on October 1, 2021

Just curious, why not just use vital wheat gluten to save time and steps? I am considering making seitan 3 days a week to start. For healthy lifestyle.

  • Wylan Vallotton on October 4, 2021

I am not vegan, but I still LOVE your videos and recipes. I don't get the "non-vegans" who refuse to eat thing just because it has vegan in the title. I have learned so much from your videos that I can apply to so many things.

  • JDuce 47 on October 5, 2021

How much arm hair do you find in the food?

  • Samuel on October 5, 2021

    "Seems like were making alot"

Ain't that the truth? I used 2 cups of flower the other night, thinking yeah this will make me a lot of chicken nuggets…i ended up with 6🙄 Totally not enough. So 4 cups will get me 12….thats still not enough 😁

  • Samuel on October 6, 2021

Im going to try to use salt next time. Im not the biggest vinegar fan. So ill try that for another time. And just use talk next

I was wondering if you could season the flower before adding so thats good to know.

So many ways to play around with Seitan it crazy, love it.

  • FER on October 6, 2021

Very cool. I have to try this! You are always very experimental/scientific with your methods. Did you ever weigh the start and the end result? The amount of VWG at the end looks like it reduced quite a bit. From an economic standpoint, it seems it would be much cheaper than buying it, but wondered how much you lose in the starches.

  • Goodlad1 on October 7, 2021

Love it, another delicious innovative ingredient

  • Tulasi-Priya Dasi on October 9, 2021

Thank you for your great videos. Could you please stop calling it sei-TAHN? It's seitan, the second syllable sounds the same as the word "tan," like when you get a tan.

  • Georg Jiří Überall on October 10, 2021

sorry but all that kneading and the hour of resting time is exactly the same as with any WTF seitan recipe. I'd just stick to making the dough without any added ingredients and knead in all the flavorings after the starch has been washed out. I don't add any salt or vinegar in the beginning and don't knead for nearly as long and my Seitan is wonderful every single time. Plus, I don't pull the dough apart but fry it up in one piece and then simmer for 45min. After some resting time (preferrably overnight in the fridge), I pull little pieces from the cooked Seitan and fry those up. All those shreds and edges crisp up wonderfully.

  • presidentiallsuite on October 10, 2021

Does this work the same with SPELT FLOUR???🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🤞🙏

  • Lauren Jewel on October 12, 2021

    This is everything

  • Vulvodynia _ on October 15, 2021

Mark is a fan of "The Future is Wild," confirmed!

  • Nimcaan Ismail on October 15, 2021

What causes undigested food in stool?

  • tigergreene on October 17, 2021

Why not just buy vital wheat gluten? It seems such a shame to waste all that wheat flour just to wash away 88.3% of it…

  • jonjonkiki1 kiki on October 20, 2021

I love the process and explanations, but is there a con to using vital gluten itself as opposed to the whole "washing" process?

  • PeaceLoveAndRico on October 21, 2021

my biggest advice to anyone wanting to make a vegetable appealing to flesh-lovers: marmite, AND nutritional yeast. use them like bouillon and watch some sauce stache vids on youtube for optimism…

  • Jon. Ward on October 27, 2021

you should do a pumpkin seitan dish

  • Debby Brady on November 10, 2021

    Can I use my mixer?

  • T W on November 11, 2021

I like the recipes. I dislike the advertisement. I understand it. But i do not like it. Thank you for your great efforts to make vegan food super awesome!

  • Laura Velvet on November 17, 2021

    The flllliiiiiiish 😂🤣
Totally true what you said about flavour and that's my point when I get criticised about tofu. Try to eat boiled chicken or turkey without flavouring, see if you like it 😂
