Deviled Egg Noodle Salad – Food Wishes ctm magazine



I’ve made a lot of pasta salads over the years, using just about every shape and size imaginable, with one notable exception…the egg noodle. I only came to this realization recently, when I was looking to make a “prop” pasta salad to sit next to some grilled pork. The cupboards were bare, except for a handful of egg noodles, and what started out as an afterthought, turned into an epiphany. Enjoy!

    Hardboiled egg would not make this any more problematic for a picnic because you already have the mayonnaise in there. Just bring a bigger bowl of ice to sit it in. Looks yummy.

    Really good! Very tangy. I added tomatoes and grated Parmesan cheese and I think it was delicious. My 8 year old agreed.

    I’m getting the same feeling I got when I watched Townsends ‘Kitchen Pepper’ video.

    Chef, you say Paprika, but we all know that’s just the first addition of cayenne … … followed by some fresh-ly ground blackened cayenne, the second addition of cayenne, cayenne sauce, and finishing up with a little bit of- blackened Cayennestershire sauce.

    p.s.
    I’m pretty sure that ‘sugar’ you added at the end is cayenne powder that you ‘Walter Whited’ into Crystal Cayenne Persuasion.

    When one considers devilled eggs, devilled ham, devilled… whatever, is not the devilishness not vinegar? Probably not, but pepper?

    I know we're not making deviled eggs made into a sauce but bear with me here… What's really missing in my opinion is a hard boiled egg yoke pushed through a strainer before mixing or as a garnish… to give this amazing recipe that eggy richness edge… but it's just me 😛
    A homemade mayo would also increase the eggy taste of it all and if made with enough lemon juice and a little zest, no need for vinegar or less lemon juice and a dash of infused herbal vinegar… yumm!
    I just love cooking, you can rarely do something wrong.
    Ok, you can definitely go wrong… :S

    What no anchovies…we need to sneak in anchovies/paste. It's not real deviled eggs without anchovies IMHO. So tasty and I'm not an anchovies fan normally.

    Hi, Chef John. That noodle salad looks great. When I make it I might boil a few eggs and thoroughly mash up just the yolks and put them in the dressing. I have a hard time following a recipe, but I know you understand.

    I might throw in a couple cooked egg yolks into the dressing and whisk it up well, it should add some eggy flavor without chunks of cooked egg in the salad 😀
