too many eggs and not enough milk as far as i can account for german pancake. also we dont put it in the oven, only pan like a thick crepe kind of 👍

It never really dawned on me before, but Dutch babies and Yorkshire pudding are pretty similar, aren't they? Huh. Interesting.

What makes them rise so much? I made them last night and mine did not rise near as much. I forgot to use room temp eggs and milk. Would that have an effect?

This recipe minus the vanilla, lemon and powdered sugar and a different but essentially the same cooking method is called a Yorkshire pudding in the UK and is usually eaten on a roast dinner. 🙂

    I think of a 10" skillet as a single-serving size myself!

Toppings: I just go seasonal. I served these the other day with thinly-sliced apples & pears and then sprinkled a bit of cinnamon.

One variation I like is also to add a pinch of nutmeg to the batter.

  • Scott Carson on December 19, 2021

    sweet Yorkshire pudding? I'm in.

  • Tag Quasar on December 20, 2021

Soooo basically Germans eat dutch babies….nice. Here we are trying not to keep reminding Germans about "Ze war" and then this pops up.😂😂😂 Im Dutch but ive never heard of this by the by.

  • Native American Feather on December 24, 2021

Never had these. I'd put prices of bacon on the batter 🙂 or sprinkle over it when it's down after drizzling maple syrup on them. On regular pancakes I put peanut butter, then peices of fresh made bacon & syrup🥰 but not sure the peanut butter would taste good with the lemon on these Dutch ones. I'm definitely going to try them♡ they look delicious
