Respected investors and leaders are warning of a possible recession and stock market meltdown in 2022 or 2023, so I’ve put together a recession checklist to help us prepare in case this happens! Following enormous returns in the stock market from 2019 to 2021, Wall Street is now forecasting average returns of only 4% in 2022.
Are you sitting on a savings account or have you spent down what you’ve set aside in the last two years? Or what about your stock market gains? In any case, it may be time to replenish your cash reserves, since if you think the threat of a recession has passed you by, think again. But don’t worry, I’ve got some tips on how to be prepared no matter what the markets throw at you. I believe we can be financial fortresses that not just survive but prosper in the next recession. You might be lulled into complacency by Fed Chair Jerome Powell’s statement that the economy is strong enough that it no longer needs significant intervention. With inflation running at 7% or more, there’s no need for a protracted delay between tapering and hiking rates.However, this is the lull before the storm.
Even though Michael Burry has become the boy who cried wolf with his “mother of all disasters is coming” predictions, others, such as Elon Musk, are wary of a possible recession in 2022 or 2023. According to Forbes, the disaster is more likely to occur in 2023, whereas Harry Dent predicts it will occur in early 2022
