Elon Musk’s Remote Work Stoppage at Tesla Prompts Harsh Reaction from German Union webfi network
Elon Musk caused outrage with an e-mail to the employees of his company Tesla. Because although other companies are offering more home office options with the increasing number of corona cases at the Tesla location in California , Musk is sticking to the obligation to be present. And if you don’t comply, you can leave.
The Reuters news agency has received the email in which Elon Musk threatened employees with being fired.
“Everyone at Tesla has to be in the office at least 40 hours a week,” Musk said. “If someone doesn’t show up, we have to assume that person has left the company ,” he continues. The email was from Tuesday evening. Two Tesla employees confirmed the authenticity of the email. Tesla itself, on the other hand, would not have commented on a request for comment.
However, Musk is said to have sent an email to the management team as early as Tuesday afternoon. There he is said to have formulated his demand even more clearly. He calls for an attendance requirement of 40 hours per week, and those who do not comply must “leave Tesla”.

I guess they are illiterate, the letter is addressed to management and letting them know that they need to be present like the workers who actually build the cars.

A wiser moving balance between remote and simulated work versus direct and empirical work is essential for a more conscientiously integral science to emerge and evolve in the market going forward.

Elon is absolutely right. If you leave it to Union they would ask 4 hrs per day work and 3 months vacation anything beyond 4 hrs must be paid double pay.

Elon appears to be pro workers even if he's not pro union. His message is directed at management, people who would not be part of a union even if the workers unionized. I would think that a union should cheer for this.
Guessing what he saw in Texas and what he saw in California and Germany, he's getting tired of slacking remote work employees.

Tesla pays the wages so its only fair the staff do as the boss asks. Management should be at the office leading from the front, the shop floor workers don’t have the choice so management needs to be there leading their staff
We have the best cars in the world and if tesla wants to be in the boat, do it under our rules. We are not an abusive regime like America.

If I worked on the line, then I feel every single person in management above me should know what I do. And be able to do my job. Otherwise how can I respect a manager telling me my job, when he or she is clueless to what I do. OR how I do it? The only way a manager can be aware of my job is to do it, just like I do it. And prove once a month or once a quarter that they can do my job.
