Germany tops 100,000 daily infections +++ Hong Kong culls hamsters | COVID latest ctm magazine
As the omicron variant spreads, the number of COVID-19 cases has also surged rapidly in Turkey. The country’s health ministry reported nearly 70,000 new cases on Tuesday – one of the highest daily figures since the pandemic began. The government of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan now hopes its locally made “Turkovac” jab will convince vaccine-hesitant Turks to roll up their sleeves. “Turkovac” received emergency use approval from Turkish authorities in December and is now being administered to the public. But experts have serious doubts about the vaccine’s effectiveness.
Germany reported 112,323 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, the latest new 24-hour record and the first daily tally north of 100,000. The national disease control body, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), published the figures early in the morning. The country’s weekly incidence rate has now reached 584.4 new infections per 100,000 people over a seven-day period, the RKI reported. The institute registered 239 deaths connected to COVID, a reduction from the 384 reported on the previous Wednesday. The hospitalization rate rose, but only slightly, to 3.17 people per 100,000 per week, versus 3.13 one week ago.
Hong Kong health authorities on Tuesday said about 2,000 hamsters and chinchillas needed to be put down after COVID-19 infections were traced back to a pet store. At least 11 hamsters tested positive for the COVID-19, and a store employee was also infected with the delta variant, according to officials. People who purchased hamsters from the store after December 22 have been instructed to hand over the animals to be destroyed, and not to set them free on the streets. Those who had been in contact with the animals would also have to quarantine.

For the life of me, I can't understand why Germany's PCR capacity is so low. The commentator in this video says that the (PCR) testing capacity of Germany is 1.5 million per week, which means ~2.6 tests per day per 1,000 people. When the UK was in the same situation (a few weeks ago) they did ~9 PCR tests per day per 1,000 people, i.e. ~3.5-times more than Germany. Israel has been doing recently ~21.7 PCR tests per day per 1,000 people, meaning ~8.3-times more than Germany. Why is Germany being so inefficient/incapable when it comes to coronavirus PCRs?

Here in the states it is probably over a million since Florida and other states just don't care any more.
The reason Germany has 'lower cases' is that they perform around 200k tests a day and countries like the UK perform 1-1.5 MILLION tests a day! France also went from 300k tests a day in November to 1.6 million during December and January. Is it any wonder that their daily case numbers accelerated in line with this vast expansion in tests performed.
You cannot compare country to country when there is this level of disparity between daily tests taken.
It's not complicated, but of course DW and pretty much every news outlet ignores these simple facts.

Until China and her counterparts are held to account for deliberately manufacturing the virus in laboratories, this variants will keep reoccurring. This is crime against humanity period. If China has nothing to hide about the origin of Wuhan variants, then why can't they allow the investigation to go ahead?. Are they trying to get ride of evidence because they knew what they were doing was wrong but thought they might get away with it.
Funny how they're skeptical about Turkovac and not Pfizer who broken numerous policies with their trails and the efficacy is low because vaxxed people are catching COVID at higher rates than unvaxxed and whatever imagined protection it does offer only lasts a few months lol.
