It doesn't need updating and mushy peas means processed peas, not garden peas.

I've just had this for dinner tonight and it tasted so good. I can't wait to do it again. The batter was just the best-battered fish ever. I had to go to three different shops to get some ginger beer, but it was worth it. I used smoked haddock with mine, served with spicy roasted cauliflower and broccoli, minted, chilli and garlic peas and a little homemade salsa with a southern gravy dip. So, easy and quick to do. Thank you, Gordon 🙂

  • Adventurous_Al_Star on December 20, 2021

I tried to use Gordon Ransay's technique – of battering the cod – with prawns and salmon. But, it didn't quite work properly. I think my batter mix was slightly too thin – after I had added a bit of water to it (as it had initially looked too thick). Also, I had used some brandy with the batter mix (as I didn't have any apple cider drink to use), and maybe, just maybe it's a bit trickier to batter salmon and / or prawns than cod. Plus, Gordon makes it look so easy because he's a top, top chef.

Does anyone have any suggestions on the best approach to use with battering salmon and / or prawns?

  • Adventurous_Al_Star on December 20, 2021

P.S. I meant to say that I didn't have any ginger beer drink to add to my batter mix – not apple cider lol 😉
