I'm surprised you didn't use any vanilla beans

I like the shell-to-shell method. I think it’s kind of fun!!

Jesus Christ. He’s telling me this like he’s explaining why what I did was wrong.

I didn't think Chef John could make me snort/laugh anymore until I got to, "You are the Kermit the Frog…" Nicely done, sir!

  • Kevin Brady on November 29, 2021

    No whiskey-bingo! 🙂

  • *SECRET* on December 5, 2021

Can I substitute Splenda or another artificial sweetener to eliminate the sugar for a diabetic friendly Eggnog drink? If so, what would be the proportions?

  • Bonney Raven on December 9, 2021

Have a merry and joyful Christmas! Thank you for all your wonderful recipes.

  • Jason Hewitt on December 10, 2021

It’s very recommended to be hygienic when preparing food and beverages. “Oils on you skin” has no place in food others eat.

  • Brian Thomason on December 12, 2021

That was barely any booze next recipe

  • MagicalMystery on December 12, 2021

How long will this last in the fridge? I live alone, so if I make this I’ll have some left over. Even if I cut it in half I’ll have some left over.

  • Mikki Kas on December 12, 2021

So what did they do years ago without a thermometers? I don't have one.

  • John Bartholf on December 17, 2021

I love your recipes, but I'm not cooking egg nog. Sorry. Not gonna happen.

  • M G on December 17, 2021

Good recipe, I like to also add a few whole cloves to the milk/egg mixture while cooking and fish them out later, and after cooking before you chill it put some scraped vanilla bean pulp in, some people add vanilla extract but I think the pulp tastes better.

  • Richard Walker on December 17, 2021

Excellent. Now I need to grab that recipe.

  • GM OOPS on December 17, 2021

How many naughas gave their lives to make those placemats?

  • Erin French on December 17, 2021

I prefer Brandy! Especially good Brandy, like the E&J Extra Smooth. I’ve also tried Bailey’s, Frangelico and Kahlua. All were good and added a different flavor profile.

  • fool apprentice on December 18, 2021

    Sooo, isn't raw egg bad?

  • B Marie on December 18, 2021

My favorite Chef-instructor. Another great demonstration. I will be making this recipe Christmas Eve. We have a lot of young children that will be present, so I want to make non alcoholic version. I know I substitute with vanilla extract, but how much?

  • wildernessman on December 18, 2021

I always shake my eggnog before pouring it.

  • nikiichan on December 19, 2021

Made this last year. It was so incredibly delicious. I was so sad when it was all gone. I had to look it up again this year.
I am just now realizing I am not entirely sure what stopped me from cooking it any other time of the year. 🤭This is just so good!

  • Citizen Robot Reacts on December 19, 2021

The bumpy tone of the voiceover is funny.

  • Diane Shea on December 19, 2021

How about instead of bourbon, Baileys Irish Cream?

  • Richie Schneider on December 19, 2021

I don't like booze but I want to add some THC to some eggnog. That's right up my alley.

  • Yashswini 291 on December 20, 2021

I’m not comfortable with eating raw eggs but I’ll try this once in life.

  • James Lapsley on December 21, 2021

how long does this nog last in the fridge?

  • River Lee on December 22, 2021

Lol good laugh thanks to your video

  • Didymus1984 on December 22, 2021

Is it ok to leave out the egg whites??

  • Truth on December 22, 2021

Seems like it would be too eggy. I prefer store bought or eggless eggnog its more nostalgic to me.

  • Jon Kirkwood on December 24, 2021

After years of raw eggnog, I'm a convert. I made a double batch of eggnog using Chef John's recipe, unadulterated. We sampled it this evening (Christmas Eve). It is delicious. It'll be a hit, tomorrow. I used Evan Williams' Single Barrel bourbon, five ounces to the two batches. Merry Christmas, y'all.

  • Isaac Riggs on December 24, 2021

Just because YOU'RE an alcohloic doesn't mean you have to push alcohol on us.

  • nuvigroovi on December 24, 2021

I made this yesterday and it is absolutely delicious! I followed the recipe word for word. At first it tasted way too sweet. I was going to throw it all out. But wait! You have to mix in the egg whites and refrigerate as the video says. The egg whites balance out the sugar sweetness. I also added 6 TBS of bourbon which also balances out the sweetness. The resulting taste is spot on.

  • Maria Rose on December 26, 2021

add cayenne pepper for a little kick

  • Nunu Allen on December 27, 2021

    I’m going to try this.

  • J on December 28, 2021

Ew yuck. Didn’t realize it was basically raw eggs.

  • Leeby Weebee on December 29, 2021

Just make this and it was a hit! I personally used salted caramel bird dog whiskey in it. I found it made the flavor so layered and amazing! 10/10 must try. I’ve never had eggnog before.
