Wow 13 years old that awesome keep it going chef john

  • S. McDade on December 27, 2020

Couldn't get it to work, putting it in the fridge overnight to see if it resettles the egg and I can try again tomorrow.

  • DannyTe on December 30, 2020

…. did Kenji steal this recipe from you, John…? https://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2011/10/two-minute-mayonnaise.html

  • Mimi Phan on January 30, 2021

Thank you so much Chef Jonh 😘
    God bless 🙏 🙌…..
You are an amazing….truly master chef……you make everything look easy……

  • J on February 5, 2021

I calculated my cost of making mayo… it was quite surprising. I thought pure olive oil was too… oliveoiley, so I used some avocado oil I had and just a bit of olive oil. I figured based on the volume of oil alone in one cup of mayo it cost me $6. I detest store bought mayo and haven't bought it ever in my adult life, but damn home made mayo can be incredibly expensive.

You should re-make this video sir to your current style 🙂

    hello from Vietnam

  • Robert Cerins on March 9, 2021

Canola is poison to our bodies.

  • netweed09 on March 14, 2021

Wow, I use an electric hand whisker it can get a bit messy but generally it's reliable.

But this method is excellent if you want the standard white mayo, as opposed to the slightly yellowed/cream one that does not include the egg whites of course

  • Jamie Hendrickson on March 18, 2021

Here's an updated, HD version of the recipe

  • Kevin Hagler on March 20, 2021

No freaking way. Kenji Lopez pretended like he invented this technique

  • endliarcheats on March 21, 2021

I just made this in 2021. I used seasoned rice vinegar so I left out the sugar and 1 cup of vegetable oil and 1/2 cup of avocado oil and it turned out excellent.

  • Mk84 on March 24, 2021

    I saw this 14 years ago….watching in 2021…i love u chef john

  • Micha Dillge on April 22, 2021

mine often comes out too thin, emulsified, not entirely broken, but not as thick as I would like. is there a way to avoid that, more oil, less oil, is it a temperature thing? some say (Gordan Ramsey) that salt should only be added after emulsification although most don't.

  • Patricia Robinson on April 23, 2021

No sugar chef john, now it's miracle whip…

  • Not Zenith on May 2, 2021

    ayyyy thx bro

  • Craig Bryant on May 5, 2021

Wow. We are through the looking glass now. Just dump in all the oil at once! And…it works perfectly. The only risk is over emulsifying it, so you get a stiff texture. Just stir in some more vinegar and mustard to loosen it up.

  • Melissa Culpepper on May 13, 2021

Just made this! I’ll never buy Mayo again!!!

  • Markus Lewis from A to Z on May 14, 2021

  • Ashley Sovilla on July 8, 2021

Ok, I made this twice just now because the first attempt failed miserably! Lol 😂
I have chickens and ducks so no shortage of eggs to experiment with… just begrudging the wasted cup and a half of oil. I had success the second time but I truly had to sit there and very slowly pulse the entire time. Then I had to incrementally move the stick blender upward while continuing to slowly pulse. It took forEVER but it came out perfectly. Just baked a fresh loaf of sourdough. Can’t wait to try them together! Thanks, Chef John!

  • FeralFlapjack on July 18, 2021

I used this video to make mayo back when I lived in an apartment, my roommates thought it was magic forbidden knowledge

  • trafficsignal101 on July 18, 2021

What no cayenne! He must be ill.

  • B B on July 23, 2021

    Not enough cayenne

  • W11 Granny on August 4, 2021

It is important to use a jug that just fits the stick blender, preferably the one that came with it. I made this mistake in the past but corrected it by using the whisk attachment for my stick blender.

  • Waldo Brewer on September 11, 2021

Followed directions to the "T" and it came out horrible. The mayo and oil seperatted and would not combine.

  • Suzanne Hedderly on September 22, 2021

I learned to eat Mayo sandwiches from my father. SO good!

I'm going to make this right now. Why? Because pandemic mood: I'm out of mayo and I'm too lazy to get dressed and DRIVE just for Mayo.
But, I knew that only Chef John had the least complicated tutorial for homemade Mayo. Thanks, Chef.

  • Tom Kennelly on September 29, 2021

Could you use pig butter ( bacon fat)?

  • Francesco L on November 6, 2021

The beginning “MAYYYY-o” was so jarring compared to his new videos

  • Charlie Turk on November 19, 2021

I've always had great results with your recipes, but with this one all that I was able to create was a mess. Obviously I'm doing something wrong, so back to the drawing board so to speak for me.

  • StretchFromTheEastSide on December 3, 2021

I can’t do this without your present-day muppet voice.

  • Michelle AW on December 6, 2021

Avocado oil will work??? I need to sub the supermarket Mayo because of the veg oil.

  • Sonsarae ronnow on December 17, 2021

    Chef Johnnnn, that voice.

  • Rishabh on January 26, 2022

I'm amazed by your measurements. Just made this Mayo and the balance of flavours is just so impeccable.

  • Richard Ayala on February 26, 2022

Canola oil is poison my man! No sugar as well!

  • justme0o7 on March 6, 2022

    Omg this is freaking amazing

  • Kinky on March 10, 2022

I would be fine with Best Foods or some commercial mayo but the only reason I make my own is so I don't have to use the unhealthy canola oil. I make mine with half olive oil, half fine quality avocado oil and it works great.
