Why does this guy always sound like he is out of breath

  • Raul Andrade on May 31, 2019

Long time watcher of food wishes and i love it so much. But for the last couple of weeks YouTube has been pushing 16 second ads. I've nothing against monetization and I hope you're doing well… But 16 seconds is just irritating… I honestly just leave before the video starts. I don't know if the chanel can do anything about it, but as silly as it may sound… I'm not willing to stick around if that's the trade off because I usually watch 7 or 8 of your videos per time… Long ads every time… Please make them go away if possible… 5 seconds is fine, but 15? I rather pay for YouTube red

I always make sure to finish Chef John's videos so that I could hear him say "And as always, enjoy" in a sing song voice. It really makes me so happy.

    Ancient questions of humanity:

    Are we alone?
    Is there a God?
What is the purpose of life?
Will I ever get a girlfriend?

WHY DOES CHEF JOHN ADD CAYENNE TO EVERYTHING?

  • Versace PythonNV on May 31, 2019

Love that chef John is up on pop culture

  • IVAT69 on May 31, 2019

Tried this yesterday, turned out great and delicious! On a side note, when you give that cabbage a cassage and you weren't aware of any paper cuts in your fingers, the salt will kindly remind you..

    OUTSTANDING!!!

  • Sidney Mathious on June 1, 2019

I am watching this because I want some slaw to go with the boneless babyback rib sandwich and make that a perfect dish. I love how you made the slaw and I do love cold slaw and especially with my meat dishes.

  • Ciaran O'Shea on June 1, 2019

Long time watcher first time commenter… love your recipes. I would like to offer you some free sound design help for your videos! I won't take no for an answer. Except I will. Love from Ireland

Love this recipe in combo with your McRib video this week. & the Kawhi Leonard reference! of course.

  • Alphabet Cat on June 2, 2019

Great Chef John. However, can you do a cheese slaw recipe in the future, please?

  • Diane Greene on June 3, 2019

Soon as I saw this I thought, "Baby back rib sandwich."

  • psycold on June 3, 2019

Your plan worked in reverse. I saw the Baby Back Rib sandwich video first and then had to track this one down because the slaw looked so damn good.

  • J W S on June 3, 2019

Just made this for a slow-bbq'd pork belly sandwich. It was so good! Great recipe!

  • Julie Mulcahy on June 5, 2019

Ok so I watched the rib vid too and was compelled to get cooking .You said it was the best sandwich you ever had! I was trying to think back on my favorite sandwich which had fried shrimp and an ingredient that I cannot remember now. But you are soooooooooo right

    My favorite sandwich
, Thank you, Julie Costa Rica

Just made your dressing to add to a fresh Garden salad with cherry tomatoes and Halumi. Thank you John, for both your excellent teaching style and the inspiration you bring to my Singles guy kitchen.

  • Sarah Doan on June 9, 2019

Oh my gosh one of the easiest and most delicious recipes EVER!!! This is a perfect honey mustard slaw and is superb on its own or with any summer dish!! Don’t skip the draining cabbage step, it makes the whole thing! Absolutely delicious! Another Chef John winner, thank you!!

Could a lettuce spinner be used to dry the cabbage

  • ckrtom2 on June 12, 2019

Made this and didn’t care for it. Didn’t like the big chewy strips of cabbage texture nor presentation. Almost resembles potato salad in appearance—my cabbage was more white than green. The dressing tasted pretty good on its own, but in the slaw it was, well…just there. In retrospect, seems like a rather ill conceived recipe (that salting, “cassaging,” rinsing, squeeze-drying…) Wouldn’t make it again. Will stick to my usual bagged shredded cabbage with my own dressing…

  • Christine Swanson on June 13, 2019

This recipe is great!!! Made just this for hotdogs one night, had some leftover so bought tomatoes, avocado and cod to make fish tacos…had some of that left over still and cooked some andouillie sausage and pasta and made a cold pasta salad. Three meals plus some lunch. Everyone should make thus.

  • crazy cat lady on June 23, 2019

this should be called Slav because we really do like our cabbage

  • Ralph Kuntz on June 26, 2019

I used a lettuce spinner to both rinse the cabbage and dry it. Worked well!

  • Symbiote Sam on July 1, 2019

Made this tonight and it was excellent. Will definitely be making again.

  • Diane Greene on July 20, 2019

My sister and friends ate this up.

So what is the difference between kosher salt, sea salt, rock salt

  • Michael Thomas on August 16, 2019

In West Georgia we eat this on hot dogs. It's the bees knees

  • chris brennan on August 17, 2019

This is so delicious and pairs excellent with smoked pork. If you haven't made this yet, you need to.

  • Don’t wanna be found on August 30, 2019

I’d probably add a little more cabbage, looked like too much sauce for me..

  • Susan Richey on September 22, 2019

Hey Chef John, your blogspot link will not load anymore. I can't make any of your recipes without the ingredients. Would you look into the reason why it is not opening? I notice other people have that trouble too. Thanks

  • The Barefoot Kid on September 24, 2019

Chef John you need a salad spinner 😉

  • The Ikon Channel on October 19, 2019

I never realized chives even did that. Very pretty.

  • SmedleyJK on February 19, 2020

turned off the video when the honey started dripping

  • dd xx on March 31, 2020

Just made this, with diluted peanut butter, soy sauce, sriracha and sugar (that's all I have for now, but some acidity would really help). I say it's pretty good for a midnight emergency snack during quarantine.
Salt, massage and 10 minutes is definitely key. A sauce with a strong body also elevates it.
This recipe is so hard to get it wrong that you can basically use any dressing (just be careful with the salt).
I guess you can get away with just flavored oil (my mom used to make it with only sesame oil or mala/chili oil).
Thank you chef. I'll definite try the complete version when all this is over.
    Miss you mom.

  • Natalia Spinelli on May 2, 2020
