How overturning Roe v. Wade could be a problem for Republicans ctm magazine

Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves gave unclear answers when asked recently about the possibility of banning some forms of contraception in his state. In today’s episode of The Point, CNN’s Chris Cillizza explains why Republicans are tip-toeing around the issue now that the Supreme Court may overturn Roe v. Wade.

Lindsey Graham thinks this might be "repealed"? No, Lindsey, you cannot "repeal" a supreme court ruling. They can, however, "overrule" it.

Separation of church and state. That’s the one thing I actually believed in about this country. 😿

Abortion isn't even in the top 10 issues for Americans. If your not talking about the economy your talking to yourself.

The Republicans want a Theocracy. First abortion, then contraceptives, then gay marriage, then interracial marriage. Republicans and Evangelicals are inherently evil, only caring about their bank accounts.

If you are for abortion shouldn't you be for anti covid vaccine. Because it's all about "my body my choice". Just something to ponder about

This is a very simple issue….. When does human life begin? At conception. Is it wrong to end human life based on location? Yes. Therefore ending human life in the womb is wrong and should be illegal.

It's a one step at a time process… they want it all… just like the rest of us. Everybody wants to rule the world

Abortion related violence after Roe is overturned will help make more Biblical Christians in America.

He's a politician. They won't give a definite yes or no until they are sure it will benifit them in some way. I can't believe anyone is still surprised by this kind of waffling.

I've read that plan b and Mirena actually work just like the pill. Mirena has a physical barrier in addition to the hormonal. It just works better because you don't have to think about it. We can't base laws in fairy tales and innuendo. I have a right to use any birth control. I don't agree with abortion, but I'm afraid of this exact thing happening.

I don't understand who's left to vote for them.

    People they hate:
    1. Non-whites
    2. LGBTQ+
    3. People not pretending to be Christian
    4. Women
    5. Poor people
    6. Science believers
    7. Pacifists
    8. Everyone in California
    9. Everyone who lives in every other blue state.
    10. The list keeps growing.

  • Ryan Rickaby on May 31, 2022

Republcians = life begins at contraception. So yeah hopefully we can ban plan b and things that end that life.. being on the pill getting a ur tubes tied or a vasectomy or condoms.. none of that ends the life… it's not that confusing… if your a Democrat and your confused just think about how u wanna ban rifles even tho it's about deaths and hand guns kill 99% of people so of course if u wanna stop gun violence you ban all guns lol

They should be worrying about what guns are doing to the USA, and not what we women want or need to do to our bodies! Wait till the side chick gets pregnant Repubs. Can't believe how much they desire to go back to such, an in the past mistakes! Scary times

These bible states also face the problem of divestiture and boycotts if Roe is overturned .

  • Thomas Foley on June 4, 2022

I strongly doubt any of the things that are alluded to in this video would come to light outside of any state except for possibly Texas. And the primary reason for that is that the pro-life movement in most States is strongly fuelled born-again / Evangelical Christians. And the very true fact is regardless of what certain sources may tell you is Protestants are very Pro birth control. Being pro birth control does not conflict with being pro-life in the opinion of the greater Protestant community. If you are of the belief that life begins at contraception well then contraceptives avoid that occurrence don't they. I think this misconception comes strongest because Catholics are against contraception. people seem to not understand how different Christians and Catholics really are to the point where they don't even have the same Bibles meaning they're completely different with a different number of books and everything. The difference between Christians and Catholics seems to be somewhat of a taboo in society to speak about so I'll avoid getting too deep into that which also takes us off topic. The only politician to my knowledge to ever hold and anti-contraception viewpoint in modern politics is Catholic presidential candidate from Pennsylvania Rick Santorum.

If you would like a comical display of the difference of opinion on contraceptives between Catholics and Christians use the search feature in your YouTube app and search for Monty Python Catholics and condoms. It's a pretty funny little 30 seconds skit.

So being this video strongly focuses on why are these Republican candidates dodging answering this question. I will provide you with some possibly inside information on why.

For republicans to get strong support within the pro-life movement especially in states that are primarily Democrat the backing of the Holy Sea and it's Pope are a crucial resource. being that Protestant Christianity and Catholicism has been at odds for centuries in a Perpetual Cold War( for those that don't know the word Protestant means to be in protest of the existence of the Pope and his legitimacy)

making any direct statement that would alienate the smooth and friendly dispersion of support from the vatican on this issue could be the one misstep that could make the whole issue Fall Apart. If tensions rise between Christians and Catholics judging by Catholics previous actions in the past they would rather get what they don't want as a result, then look less powerful then anyone else that they're mad at. The papacy is much less concerned with practicing what It preaches or " getting what it wants" is then it is exerting its power against anything that challenges it. politics with the Vatican is very similar to doing politics in China in that respect. Even if they know things aren't going to go their way long as they can hold their head high and act like they're leading they will go along. but the moment somebody says even the slightest thing to make it look like they're not in control even if they didn't think it would create a offense they will do a 180 even if it means a complete loss for them because they rather lose on their terms. In other words they are only willing to compromise if the illusion that they're compromise is that of a Grace or gift and not a sign of not being the sole Authority in the decision to compromise. Even if they're well aware it's not true it's the illusion that matters

If a republican candidate said" of course we would never remove birth control or contraceptives there a positive element of society and the right way responsibly handle the issue of unwanted pregnancy" the Vatican would immediately use every Power that it could to keep Roe versus Wade in place because they'd rather lose completely then lose a little if they get to say they were the authority on the outcome

Draconian as it may be, voters elected all these senators, congressmen, governors, presidents, etc

  • ITube4RealFun on June 5, 2022

It's one thing to ban abortion but to ban contraceptive ?? WTF !!
Republicans are beyond stupid & bonkers.

  • Fkthe Demlibscum on June 8, 2022

Dem/Libs are very bad people… They are liars, cheaters, cons, murderers and violent rioters, looters & arsonists…. and they enjoy killing children, so they fight hard to keep it legal…. It only matters that they themselves were born… Hopefully, children will be granted HUMAN RIGHTS (TRUMP VICTORY).

  • Richard Collins on June 8, 2022

This is a woman's choice not Republicans who protect guns, not children.

  • John Louis on June 14, 2022

A problem for the Republicans I think not but a problem for the Democrats yes and big time one.

  • John Louis on June 14, 2022

This is a ridiculous discussion woman know when they are fertile and when they are not.
Is that not how they did it in the past to limit their own family size.

  • Just A Man Evaluating Stuff on June 15, 2022

Here's an interesting abortion topic. If someone kicked a 6 month pregnant women in the stomach and the "clump of cells" become terminated that person would be charged with murder not just an assault of a woman and her clump of cells. so the laws considers the clump of cells to be a human, so why is the law not applied when the woman herself also terminates the clump of cells herself?

  • Joe Moreno on June 18, 2022

They're just trying to play God that is between that woman and God not the government so keep trying play God and politics in one you will lose they don't even care about the children that are here now much less the ones that are not born
