Summary of this Tutorial:

start by installing and activating the Simple Full Screen Background Image plugin.

Under Appearance, Fullscreen BG Image you will be able to upload your background image.

The recommended image size is 1600×1200 px.

The image will automatically be scaled to match the screen and when you save you can view the image on your site.

A larger image will improve the screen resolution and the quality of background images when they are scaled down.

Would love it if you made a HTML/CSS convert to WordPress theme tutorial. Those videos are out there. Almost all are crap. Quite frustrating.

This plugin is not compatible with WordPress 4.7.3 version. How to add background image in 4.7.3 version?

Hallo to you, that was so easy, and I have enjoyed the video, easy to follow and your blog is so resourceful too. I'm nonetheless stuck on how to make the upper content layer be transparent so that the texts lie on the custom background image. I'm using MH Magazine lite theme, and SiteOrigin CSS plug in.
How may I kindly go about that? .mh-header, .mh-wrapper { background: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.8); } I just don't know how to work around it. Really hope to hear from you and truly I appreciate wpbeginner, big big visitor and follower.

All is fine until I click on "save options" — nothing happens.

hi, how can I delete the background image back.

  • Alison A on January 7, 2021

It would be great if you could say which plans are needed for these options. You can't add plug ins with the free or 2 cheapest upgrade options. Is there a way around this?
