Hi Chef John,
Thinking this would work for sweet potato chips too?
Chef John! I'm a huge kettle-style chips fan. If I make thicker slices, will I get a kettle-style chip?
Thanks! I wish I'd known this in college – we would microwave M&Ms for snacks, and 'tater' chips would have been an epic addition to our 'stoner snack' list!
Can this be done with a sweet potato?
This is going to put the chips/crisp makers out of business.
😁👍👍👍
that retro styled microwave is very cool
LOL! The chips are less fat but dipping them into sourcream killed that concept! Who cares, right? Thanks for sharing, John!!
Incredibly labour intensive, time and energy consuming way to make a handful of chips.
Omg this is a great idea! I had a microwave potato chip maker that was plastic ugh, think about that, it melted one day, gross!
the way you talk is hypnotic.
After being saved by my nail 3 times, I now always use the guard
Mmm crisps 😉
Time isnt real
Looks great and all, but… Guess ill just spend 3-5$ for a pack of chips
Please use a fish cutting glove with the mandoline. I'm not a vegetarian, but I do like my chips meat-free.
This is the second three decade old recipe I've seen today… I was thinking it was nostalgia day and when I saw your microwave it was confirmed (chorizo Bolognese/lasagna was the other recipe). =8-)
Mium!
the only problem is, you need massive microwave, one batch is soo little 😀 I used to make mine on paper towels and you dont need any oil at all

OMG, where was this a week ago when I was trying to make potato chips for the first time! cries over four wasted potatoes Thank you, this will help so much with my next try.
Your loud and gusto chewing made me drool lol
I found this fascinating until you started chewing, then it drove me freakin' crazy. I can't stand hearing eating sounds. OY!
Hi! Any reason why you should brush them with oil instead of using an oil spritzer? Thanks!
These take much more time to make than eat
