    He is a great chef so of course he did everything perfectly… but having eaten only Basmati rice for 21 years of my life (as I'm a Bengali from the heart of Kolkata and rice and fish are my staple food), I can vouch that he did NOT cook the rice properly… it was a soggy mess. Perfectly cooked Basmati rice should be fluffy and dry and not have a single drop of moisture attached to it, but the one he cooked, was literally drenched in water! To cook Basmati rice properly, the water MUST be removed after steaming for some time (the time depends on the oven heat, the quality of the Basmati rice and so on)… Basmati rice SHOULDN'T absorb all the water while steaming… that's a BIG NO for good Basmati rice.

    Everything fine but the rice = clear NO! Wash the rice, 2:1 water/rice + some salt…let it boil once turn of the plate (eletric) or lower the flame to minimum, put a towel over the pot and the lid back on = 20-25 Minutes = Perfect Rice!

    Just for the record, that doesn't sharpen the knife, it only rehones the edge. Still need to properly sharpen it. There is a difference.

    After my dr told me I am on the verge of a heart attack or stroke, I decided I needed to learn how to cook. Apparently hambuger helper and macaroni & cheese is not healthy.
