Ret. Lt. Gen. Mark Hertling joins Ana Cabrera to discuss reports that Russian President Vladimir Putin is making tactical military decisions in Russia’s months-long war in Ukraine. #CNN #News

  • Guy Lefebvre on May 20, 2022

And were hearing that Russian officers are shooting their own wounded soldiers rather than calling in their medical system.

  • Nicholas Maude on May 20, 2022

Putin involved in the day to day planning? Hitler did the same thing with disastrous consequences for the Wehrmarkt.

  • Melissa Griffith on May 20, 2022

Stop this killer and bring him to justice 🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸

  • rand mayfield on May 20, 2022

This rings true to the last months of Hitler's rule. It was his self image that he could do things better than anyone else (sound familiar?) that planted the seeds to the development and then launching of Operation Valkyrie. They almost got him. Putin seems to be heading in the same direction.

  • Pyle San Jose on May 20, 2022

Putin doing a hitler.. meddling with military tactics and battlefield decisions.

  • rena fielding on May 20, 2022

This means he is completely aware of what destruction Russian troops are wreaking.
In addition to that, who else is left? Looks like Ukraine is picking off the officers.

Yes let's listen to a war report from the "experts" that work for weapons companies; their multiple sources (unnamed) and who is Hertling trying to kid, with his "sources on the ground" spiel? It's not an artillery duel; it's blitzkrieg (invented by the English, used successfully by the Germans); all these Ukrainian victories as the Donbass turns red and why are we listening to American generals, after Iraq; Libya and Syria were such a resounding success (not). UK intel: leave it out! Giving money to corrupt countries and it disappears (happens every time); superpowers attacking non-super powers, they trash the country (happens every time), while CNN is simply a propaganda outlet for those desperate for war (for other people to fight). Choose your words carefully Hertling the soldiers under your command did some pretty hellish things and if soldiers don't follow orders in war; of course you know what happens, so cut the sanctimonious crap; "when your leaders have been shown to be criminal" where were the war-crimes people when America killed 50,000 kids in the Middle-East? "The price we have to pay" (M Allbright).
Pull the other one CNN, it's got bells on it… you are corrupt; out to start WW3 and your war reports are so one-sided you can't even say surrendered. These two will fight to the last Ukrainian, but this isn't your usual oil war; far from it.
America should not have toppled the Ukrainian government in 2013-14; big mistake and now, as usual, civilians will pay for it. Too much money in American politics.

Do you also smile about Afghanistan, Irak… Ar you smiling about the people killed???

  • Robert Nicholson on May 20, 2022

The Donbas western areas have what looks like the second largest natural gas reserves after Russia itself. Why do you not mention this in your 'strategic assessment' of what is going on. Putin doesn't care if the Donbas is flattened. He wants the gas. He will agree to any settlement that lets him retain these gas fields. Why would you not mention this in your analysis?

  • JourneyMan Smitty on May 20, 2022

The young man did the crime now he's got to do the time and there's no one that's going to get them out of it🤔

  • Shawn Dejong on May 20, 2022

You know, this vaguely reminds me of someone from history. But I just can’t put my finger on his name… had a funny moustache, spoke German.. painted shitty pictures… maybe someone can enlighten me.

  • kristinaF54 on May 20, 2022

The Donbass region and all that eastern flat area is where Ukraine grows its wheat. Russia has stolen vast amount of harvested wheat from the region and over 2.5 million tons are left to rot in silos because the Ukraine ports, rail and road infrastructure has been damaged by Russian forces. All this causes food disruption. Added to this, Russia itself had bumper wheat harvests prior to the invasion, the largest they had in seven years.

I have to raise my Middle Finger when you show the Red Devil!

  • Douglas Reagan on May 20, 2022

Hertling is an idiot. I had to sit in on the Commander's brief for the repeal of Dont ask dont tell. He was trying to justify the change by saying "I dont care if the guy next to me has sex with animals". Sorry General, I do. Its against the law and morally wrong at every level. I lost all respect for him.

  • Bart Lint on May 20, 2022

Cnn supporting nazis in ukraine and having a pedophile as a president😂😂😂 the usa is no more than trash

  • Graeme Glen on May 20, 2022

Rumours of iminent deaths have swirled around every dictator since the beginning of time. Hitler was sick and dying, Mussolini had some disease that was going to kill him as well. I think people just tell themselves that to make themselves feel better about not being able to stop the guy. Governments maybe make up a story to avoid taking action, using the excuse he's gonna be dead soon anyways. We shall see.

  • Barry LaFleur on May 20, 2022

In a very clever ploy, over two thousand Azovstal fighters, many of them injured, have tricked the Russians into retreating from the fight over the steel plant and are now taking up positions well inside Russian held territory. Putin should be embarrassed. The United States will never let the Russians take Mariupol. When will Vladimir Putin learn? We are America, we're number one.

  • Pulsating Sausage Boy on May 20, 2022

Hitler made all of the same mistakes Putin is making now.

  • M on May 20, 2022

Putin is firing Generals and personally running the war exactly like Hitler did

  • terry wayne Hamilton on May 20, 2022

Question , what was this killer kid doing in a stolen car driving around with his ' commander ' when the guy on a bicycle came up ? Oh ya, and why did he shoot the old guy in the head when an arm or a leg do the same thing. Any one who would shoot another humane being in the face is one sick SOB. Just my opinion.

  • Numba1 on May 20, 2022

This is sickening… have you seen the food prices? My family is basically stsrving I’m struggling to feed me kids let alone myself. Gas prices doesn’t help (I did research prices have nothing to do with Putin.. it’s cause and effect Biden’s first day in office was cause and this is effect. I can’t believe I was dumb enough to vote for him without doing research us minorities are struggling

  • C. Fiddler on May 20, 2022

Conqueror, Emperor Putin, seems more like a whacky whacked-out Fool. Russia's wild ride because of a Mafioso wannabe. I'd hate to see when Russians wake up and learn that their loving dictatorship, klepto gangland government, after all, deserves a big kick up the vodka-slugging no-brain backsides.

  • First Principles Thinker on May 20, 2022

In this day and age, the 21st century, Humans are still not making invasions Illegal where there is a world body to collectively illegally be allowed to respond in defence of the invaded country. This is why Putin has been able to threaten and invade and massacre so many. One reason is Each Country has Unwise leaders who lack Morality. They think that an invaded country is not them and so they need not help. Its this mentality that allows wars to continue. Majority of all countries always know unprovoked invasion is wrong and they will be empathetic to the invaded. Yet the world, these countries lack the Morality sufficient to come together to stop an Invader. Majority countries will always win. Given this logic, even China should not be able to invade any country without worrying about retaliation from the rest of the world. So, Humans are still lack Morality just like I'm the WW1 and before that, since the beginning of time

  • Rolando Castaneda on May 20, 2022

This is the same doomed tactics that Hitler performed on his generals and decided to enact himself. History always repeats itself.

  • ss noiem on May 20, 2022

Fake news 😅 @ Donald Trump

  • Go away on May 20, 2022

The average Russian "soldier" did not go to Ukraine to defend the Motherland; It was not under threat.
They went to Ukraine to loot, rape and murder.
They were not under stress when they decided to do this.

  • Peter Reed on May 20, 2022

Why did Putin really start this war, he can’t even call it a war

  • Steve A on May 20, 2022

CNN, why aren't you covering the Sussman Trial. In the trial they found out Hillary herself gave the go ahead to give the Russian story to the media.

  • Alfred Degiorgio on May 20, 2022

THE GOP-MAGA CONFEDERACY HAS TWO ITEMS ON ITS ELECTION MANIFESTO; MAGA and TRUMP'S BIG LIE. MAGA promises a white power autocracy and TRUMP’S BIG LIE provides an excuse to sabotage democracy, rig the elections, and empower the autocracy mission. The huge majority of GOP candidates support both!

  • Shifty McGee462 on May 20, 2022

Dictator micromanagement of a war. Where have I heard that before?
