As someone who has watched American Horror Story then finding this video and seeing that its Zachary Quinto's show. Just wow. I enjoyed watching this!

  • @adamlewis5700 on May 6, 2024

Couldn't they have just traded that piece of copper with those Native Americans living on Hatteras? That would explain why the piece was there. It doesn't necessarily mean that they went to live there.

If it was approximately a 76 day voyage each way, why did White take 3 years to return? What was he doing for two and half years in England???

  • @catthom1955 on May 9, 2024

I wish they went to Chesapeake Bay. Would have changed history.😢

  • @dominick8911 on May 9, 2024

Disappointed that none of these comments mention aliens.

Why is Silas teaching me about Roanoke?

  • @molivah on May 10, 2024

Rather neat they decided to have Quinto narrate/host history channels shows now. An homage to to how Leonard Nimoy narrated a bunch of history channel shows in the 90s perhaps?

  • @xxsparrowxx8568 on May 10, 2024

Could they not have attacked and killed them, stolen their things…and that’s why the artifacts are there?

  • @tessat338 on May 10, 2024

It's a mistake to refer to the people who came in 1590 with John White as "his" men or to call the vessel that he traveled in "his" ships. John White was just a passenger on the ship in 1590. He and some of the crew landed in an open boat where he expected the colony to be. He had a morning to look for his friends. He found the tree carving and some of his stuff in a chest in one of the houses. A hurricane was blowing up and the landing boat crew said that he could either get back into the boat with them or stay behind, alone. When he got back on the ship, he begged the captain to continue the search, but the captain refused and sailed out ahead of the storm. When the ship returned to England, John White was never able to make a return voyage. It is really sad and heartbreaking. He must have felt so helpless.

  • @diannemiller1895 on May 11, 2024

Fascinating…..esp when most think Plymouth Rock was the first. Appreciate the enlightenment. Certainly exciting, esp for possible descendants.

Oh look! A pile of shells! Using my bare hands let me find one of the most important discoveries of this mystery just 1 inch under the shells…🙄

“When he returned JUST three years later…” what do you mean “just”?

  • @gailduvall on May 17, 2024

I've never understood why the CROATOAN clue was not enough for us. And if they went willingly, they would have left behind more information, instead of a clandestine clue. 😔

  • @mikeysrose on May 17, 2024

Came for the Quinto, stayed for the history.

I don't understand why programs put obnoxious background noise in their interesting topics. It competes for listening.

  • @user-iu8sn6mw1z on May 19, 2024

Irony, Leonard Nimoy played Spock and narrated In Search of in the 70s. Zachary Quinto played Spock in the Reboot of Star Trek and narrates the reboot of In Search Of. Awesomeness.

  • @laranaarana on May 19, 2024

It's amazing to see Zachary Quinto hosting the same show that his predecessor, Leonard Nimoy, hosted in the 70's.

  • @jrojala on May 21, 2024

I’m living for more of Quinto

John Lawson, the gentleman who explored North Carolina and wrote about seeing Native Americans who spoke English, wore European clothes, and had light eyes, was my 7th great grandfather. The picture of him is not correct. Only one portrait is believed to be of him, and it's not the one they showed. Other than that, a nice presentation. I'm surprised they didn't touch on the Lumbee claim but glad they skipped the Dare Stone nonsense.

Interesting… plus it was the “Vikings” that landed in America 1st. The different Native Indians were here since …

  • @debbiesmithwick8221 on May 22, 2024

I really think they split up. Some going to Hatteras and some going North to try and reach Chesapeake. Thus sites on the Chowan and sites on Hatteras.

  • @timothyduhamel-lockwood7540 on May 23, 2024

I'm sure it's NOT a coincidence Zach was chosen for "In Search Of" as was Nimoy. The character of Spock somehow adds credibility. So very cool.

  • @0Y0L on May 23, 2024

Through DNA testing they found out that the settlers actually went to go live with the native tribe. They weren't killed or anything like that
