I grew up with Mary Berry, Fanny Craddock (who knew you could cook in a ballroom gown and intimidate your young staff at the same time?!?!?!), Julia, Jaques, and Graham Kerr (so glad you mentioned Galloping Gourmet). Now we have you to train us! Wonderful personality, amazing insights, great food. You are to cayenne the way Mr. Townsend is to nutmeg or Ms. Crocombe is to shade! All my best from Virginia!

My Relatives are gone but l was told that my Italian grandmother made the best Carrot gravy. I think I'm more curious than anything else because it really doesn't sound good to me. But, all of them were wonderful cooks and wine makers. My godfather, now gone, was the one to mention it. I know his taste in food and the only recipes I've seen l really doubt that they are the gravy.

I do have the Walla Walla Washington Italian heritage cookbook that was passed down to me from my mother. But my grandma's gravy is not in it.
Have you ever heard of Carrot Gravy? Possibly with an Italian twist to it? Maybe he was using the word gravy for sauce. Shrug.. my Italian is rough and my mother only used it if she was around my relatives or upset and swore. But I had that down great! 😛
    Thanks
P.S. my mother used to make a yummy eggplant dish with spaghetti sauce and bread chunks, parm-regi.. Mmm.. it was delicious.

Haircuts, presently Re-exploring the 60’s long beautiful hair (kinda) approaching 70. Except for the stripe down center of head that’s Mohican like just bald.
Will await the barber, for the beard trim and remnants haircut.

Would you be able to do a video for a recipe called "plum duff"? I've been searching all morning but keep hitting dead ends. I really want to make this recipe. Can you help??

  • melvina628 on May 22, 2020

We are all learning many things in this day and age. I like the mustache, but bald is a good idea.
Beyond Meat looks and tastes like meat, except it contains no animal products, no soy, and not gluten. It tastes delicious.

  • Swingman2012 on May 24, 2020

CJ – I joined your club towards the end of the chat and my comment got jumbled (my fault) and lost I guess. I wanted to tell the vegetarians and vegans to look into your sausage-chicken-peppers-potato recipe *technique*. Follow the instructions leaving out the meats and fill in with almost anything else. It's awesome as it is of course, but you can substitute and change it up in the classic Chef John style. I recently did one with sweet peppers, whole mushrooms, potatoes, onions, and … I don't remember what else, and it was delicious.

PS: When will Michele have some time in the spotlight?

  • Fluffy on May 25, 2020

The first recipe I ever made was pita bread and it puffed up. I only heard your voice and thought my mum would surely love your style. And bingo.. we both love you and your style. Love your baldness and moustache💖💖.

Chef John, youve been a hero in my kitchen (in Tokyo) for 12 years now! All the way back to the Yogurt Chicken recipe. When the clippers I used to clip my hair short, I went for the foil shaver smoothness. I highly recommend it!
