And Chef John spake, saying, "First shalt thou take the worcestershire sauce. Then shalt thou add three drops, no more, no less. Three shall be the drops thou shalt use, and the number of drops shall be three. Four shalt thou not drop, neither drop thou two, excepting that thou then drop three. Five is right out."

  • Pudge Boy on February 1, 2021

You should never ever garnish a dish with anything inedible. You can’t eat the shells. You’ll just have to take them off and put aside. Now if there was meat in shells it would make sense. But the dish looks tasty.

Chef John I made this for my Valentine and she dumped me 🙁

I’ve tried cooking rue a million times and I’m not sure if it’s my grated cheese or uncooked rue that’s causing my cheese sauce to taste gritty or “powdery” 😪☹️

  • Serina on February 12, 2021

Lmao it’s Valentine’s Day in two days

Freshly grated nutmeg – why on the earth would anyone buy pre-grated/ground spices? 😂 it could be saw dust, or whatever they want lol. Never ever buy ground spices. Grind/grate them yourself! It smells grate that way!🙏

He says you don't want to over power it with herbs, yet he kills the cheese sauce with cayenne.

Chef John I know the Partially cooked Lobster Tails were not done but they still looked Amazingly Delicious.

  • lowlifeuk999 on April 28, 2021

why make lobster mac and cheese when removing the mac you got lobster thermidore ? Huh Chef John, I dare you to answer to this comment …

  • Memo William on April 30, 2021

Many commenters complain about the chef’s corny jokes or his rising vocal intonations. Those don’t bother me.

What annoys me is his incessant use of cayenne powder. I cringe; not because it necessarily spoils the dish but because it feels like he’s pushing it. As if he has a cayenne sponsor.

I guess I’m getting weary of the cayenne. Salt is necessary in almost everything. Cayenne? Not so much.

How would you cook the lobster if you went for whole live ones? Still under or all the way?

  • Sam Goodwin on May 14, 2021

    Hi Chef
Can this be made the day before?

  • Farooq Ali on July 19, 2021

lol. Chef John's hidden comments are freaking awesome. "This dish is so good, you better make sure you have some stuff around for breakfast too." LMAO. you should've left the piano and just queued in "Let's Get it On" by Margin Gaye at that exact moment.

Thank you for this great recipe!

  • TroutR2 on October 10, 2021

The first tail you cut is a V-Notch female. Illegal to harvest or possess. Its a method lobstermen use to preserve the species.
Where I come from they call that the $500 lobster tail. That is the typical fine for possession. Sorry love your cooking.
