Hi. It will be great if the measurements for the ingredients such as sugar , miso paste, mirin, water & sake (japanese wine) can be clearly stated. For example: 1 tablespoon of white miso paste, 2 tablespoon of brown sugar, 1 tablespoon of water, etc.
As a university student in the eu at the moment on a fairly tight budget, I'm wondering if I can substitute the salted cod with cheaper fish that I can salt before preparing the dish. I guess i'll just have to give it a try.

Nice recipe, CJ, but I'm still disappointed you never once made any "miso corny", "making love is nice, but I prefer to "cod"dle" or "I pun you long time" jokes.

PS: has anyone tried pulling it out 1 to 2 minutes early, and frying on high heat for 1 to 2 minutes to crisp up the skin on the bottom.
Couldn't find black cod anywhere so made this with salmon and it was so goodddd

I started making this and then heard it’s bastard DeNiros favorite..
Went to McDonalds.
Gindara no misoyaki, a small bowl of miso soup, a bit of steamed rice with seasoned rice vinagar and a shake of shiso furukake…
And perhaps a salad of wakame and cucumber… now thats dinner.

This is also one of my favorite dishes but I have rarely had it because black cod or sablefish seems very hard to find.
