I’m distantly part Irish as to my linage but from the deepset anger,over political bitterness,alcoholism,violent tendency to the point of insane brutality that I’ve witnessed predominantly by the male population but even so by the females as well it is not a heritage I’m proud to claim. My own father was all of the aforementioned and I’m lucky to be alive for all the drunken times he beat me with out mercy and even tried to shoot me more than once. I do feel bad for the persecution the English put on the Irish people’s but I don’t believe there will ever actually be any real peace among the people there as it is never really in the past and so continues the deep set hate that carries over into the basic culture. Violent drunk men constantly forcing their views irrationally on on other men when basically their just looking for a physical fight. The two young men here talking about murdering someone Just because their English and a young woman because she doesn’t want to be with him in His fantasy relationship- he’s a sick violent abuser – actually their both mentally ill sick trash – and this is acceptable understood behavior among Irish men – watch this movie has deeply reinforced my feelings that I want nothing to do with these peoples.

Amazing movie.
It is what it is. Not pretty, yet beautiful in it's own truth. I'm a cheerful pessimist so I enjoyed it's gloomily optimistic mood.
Sadly many seem confused as to who the characters are. I suggest putting it in your watch later playlist, wait awhile and watch again on a different day (and time of day.)

I have a problem with the continuity of this movie. within the first ten minute it shows him in the woods supposedly alone on a mountain top. The he skis off it yet there are ski tracks in front of him. either a retake or someone else was there just earlier. Either way a mistake by the director.

Surprisingly good movie!
Sorry but I got Piste-Off when he decided he had to bury his mother in the middle of nowhere. It did not save him being outed as a possible target for the IRA as the girl was still alive (at that point anyway) and available to talk about him.
