“Pancake” Lasagna for One – Food Wishes ctm magazine
Even for the fastest cooks, layering a full size pan of lasagna takes a while, and that’s after you’ve prepped the noodles, mixed up the filling, and grated all that cheese. So, lasagna isn’t really something you just whip up because you’re craving a piece. Until now. Enjoy!

I know it is delicious because it looks delicious. 🙂
@Food Wishes / Chef John – what size is the baking dish? 8 oz / 10oz/ or 18oz?
that is not "ricotta", that is "primo sale" cheese. Ricotta is made boiling some whey … it's a dairy product but not a cheese. Ricotta in Italian means "cooked again" / "cooked twice" because you cook the milk once to make cheese and then you cook again the whey to make ricotta. I dare you to answer me and tell me in my face I am wrong.
I made those pancake noodles, and they're just like regular lasagne noodles, only a bit lighter. Very easy to make!
My mom do this pancake lasagna all the time! It's one of my favorites and tastes really good cold too.
oh oh you can make Gina's stuffed maniccotti with those crepes!

I need this in my life. With a meatball on the side of course!
❤️ from India 🇮🇳 🇮🇳🇮🇳
Who else comes here for Chef John's zaniness?
I can’t watch. It’s too good. “Lightly saucin the top..”
Your singing voce is excellent Chef John! I thought the pun "Frank Sentara of your pancake lasagna" was a little messy / lame, until you sang…..
it then immediately became epic.
"The second verse is just like the first" Tell me this is a deep cut Violent Femmes reference!!
“Second verse, same as the first” Peter No one approves!
You're killin it.
💗💗💗
Omg omg amazing
Sadder words have never been spoken… Title to this video
Looks wonderful, Chef John could I also use a meat sauce…
Great idea! A bit too much ricotta mixture for me in one serving, but a fine idea nonetheless.
🎵”I did it my way ay” 🎶
That last “ay”
Literally laughed out loud.
Too good
Anyone who runs a bistro and doesn't put this on the menu tomorrow…
Looks great. Not a lo cal dish though.
Thank you. This recipe was easy to make and came out really great!!
nice
I made this!
Hands down the best lasagna I’ve ever made and quite possibly ever had!!
Thank you Chef John!
Okay, the nitty gritty…
The “noodles” were incredibly easy to make. They took 5 minutes to mix up. 15 minutes to rest. 15 minutes to cook. I just used cooking spray instead of brushing olive oil because the first “noodle” seemed a little greasy. I don’t know why I’m putting quotes around noodle. They tasted just like noodles except way better because they weren’t so thick!
I made my own ricotta from Chef John’s recipe. Delish! I haven’t perfected it yet, but if it’s a little dry, I just add some cream to it and yum!!
The sauce. I used Rao’s Mariana for the first time. I’m convinced it had a great deal to do with the success of the recipe. Worth every penny. I decided I wanted to use jarred sauce and a couple reviews said Rao’s is the best; it is, hands down the best.
The cheese. I remembered incorrectly and thought Chef John said to use provolone and that’s what I bought. It worked beautifully. Because I spent so much on the sauce I bought a $4 wedge of parm at Walmart and grated it. Not the real stuff (the shame) and it was still excellent.
Putting it together.
I didn’t have the beautiful ramekins (I’m getting some now) so I bought the smallest foil trays at Walmart. They worked perfectly.
I felt like my noodles may have been a little thinner than Chef John’s so I did 4 layers with a little less ricotta between the layers. I did not drizzle with olive oil because I felt like the sauce had enough oil in it. I did spray the aluminum pans with cooking spray before I started.
Cook time for 4 layers added about 5 extra minutes.
The batter for the noodles made enough for 3 individual lasagnas so I made all 3 (used almost all of 1 recipe of poorly made ricotta and 2/3-3/4 of a 32oz jar of sauce).
Once the lasagna had rested it came out of the aluminum pans nicely so we could have them on a plate.
Sorry this is overly detailed but some people like that.
Let me know if you have any questions
Thanks again Chef John. You’re simply the best!
I need more !
I need some meat.
i made this. I'm glad because I'm the only one that eats lasagna
The small bowl comment had me cracking up!
I just love this channel!
What the fuck is it with Americans, every time you say "and last" do you just by a pavlovian reflex have to follow it by "but not least"??? It is fucking irritating!!
genius
Yummm!
Oh God, this looks sooooo goooood! This recipe made me subscribe. I find your videos to be so adorable😊
What a brilliant idea! That would be two meals for me, which is perfect.
Your well of the best
It looks good but I will never make this
I love your commentary. Your off-tune Sentara singing followed by "Don't worry, I'm not quitting my say job — I already did that." made me belly-laugh.
But no meat???!!!
Flap jacks
