Polish Poppy Seed Rolls – Food Wishes ctm magazine
Traditionally, a Polish Poppy Seed Roll is rolled, baked in a loaf, glazed, and then sliced, but here we’re using those same ingredients to create individual rolls, which ended up being as unusual, as they were deliciously addictive. Speaking of which, do not make these before a drug test. You’ve been warned. Enjoy!

Drug tester: Yeah right like you ate a pound of poppy seeds.
This guy has the most annoying sing-songy voice I have ever heard. Listening to him speak is like water torture. He may have good ideas for the home cook, but he should NEVER be narrating the work.
originally it looks like this:

Imagine some vanilla sauce with these.
These are so good
Yum
And if you don't cut this and just bake the whole roll (with a thicker poppy layer) you have the traditional poppy seed strudel ❤️
Which I did!
I modded the recipe just a bit. Instead of honey I put same amount of Apricot jam (no gelatine) and I decreased the amount of sugar in dough and filling by 1/3.
I baked it for about the same time, 20-25min.
I covered it with foil right after so it stays soft and juicy. It's amazing! THANK YOU
Man, I'm Polish but unfortunately I don't produce honey ;(… haha :P.
His voice is so pleasant what in the name of God, imma face slam my hob 😴❤️
The video looks like a lot more than the 1 1/2 cups poppyseed in the written recipe.
They look awesome
Still to this day the best voiceover for any recipe is John’s.
I mean this feeling and every recipe I find tells me to grind the poppy seeds. I am so glad yours does not however, I did get a tip that says toasting the Poppy seeds in advance will do the same flavour wise as crushing them so that is what I did . I have not made the final product yet but I'm it's really taste tasty now.
I also added some dates instead of the sugar
My Grandmother started a tradition in our family with poppy seed pastries. Even today, there is never a holiday meal without a poppy seed pastry of some kind. I fondly remember as a child of eight to ten years of age being tasked with manually grinding the poppy seed for the filling. Oh my, do I miss those days, and Grandma.
Who thinks his voice is so annoyingly irritating?
Why is it so calming to listen to him talk?? He is like the Bob Ross of cooking
Nom nom…these make the Polak in me sooo happy…..lol…but don't eat them before or a drug test 😂
Where're the ingredients by grams???
The ones in the store have a usually dry filling because it’s diluted with bread crumbs 😒
Hi Chef John, you have measurements in volume. By your standards, what do you consider a cup of flour in grams? I've seen this number varies from 120-145 between chefs.
When I was a kid (1960's), a local bakery used to offer something called Poppy Strudel Cake. The log you see in this video would have been wound into a coil and when baked and cooled would have been topped with a thin, clear glaze. Us kids were permitted only a taste because it was considered too rich for kids. By the time I was old enough for a slice of my own the bakery had closed.
Alright, I did you a favour and used REAL vanilla extract. You owe me, chef John.
WARNING, WARNING, WARNING!!!!!
POPPY SEEDS WILL MAKE YOU TEST POSITIVE FOR OPIUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
