Can I prep these the day before, do the final rise overnight in the fridge and then bake the next day?

I want to add rosemary to this recipe, does anyone know if that would work with the honey?

  • joseph burtulato on January 6, 2020

I made those, never again will I do that again! It took forever to get the string ready and took even longer to tie-up each roll. I can make about a dozen different bread shapes that wont even take nearly as long as those pumpkin rolls. Still love u Chef John.

    Awesome as usual Thank you!

Hmmm…could we potentially do this with one big dough ball, to make a big centerpiece bread pumpkin?

  • ScottO on September 14, 2020

    …bind our balls…of dough.
I will save this recipe to use for Thanksgiving 2021. I will probably make a half batch for myself for my own Thanksgiving meal

I like the fact that these buns do not incorporate any addition of egg in the recipe apart from the optional egg wash. Thanks for the recipe. How long do these rolls stay soft after baking 2-3 days?

Added 200g Kabocha squash (needed more flour to make it not so sticky) and substituted for a bit of whole wheat flour… Delicious!

Wouldn’t it be easier to idk just cut the rolls? Like flatten em and use scissors? Seems like Alota work.

  • cierra tinkham on November 24, 2020

    Would premade pillsbury dough work?

  • Parker Muffley on November 25, 2020

“Until we’re ready to bind our balls… of dough.”

I wonder what adding brown butter at the start instead would go?

  • EsraFan on October 18, 2021

    Where are the measurements ?

I'm intrigued…Might you show us how to make the Citrus Infused Pork & Fennel Sausage Seasonal Sliders?

@Food Wishes Chef John, can you freeze this? If so, at what stage? Love your work!! I made this last year for my family and I am going to wow my colleagues with them this year

  • michael arrieta on November 14, 2021

Are these "make the day before" and bake the following day-friendly?

  • Inessa Yankovskaya on November 19, 2021

    Beautiful!

  • Matt Just on November 22, 2021

Chef John, I love this video! Im an amateur who thought I’d try these. My dough never seemed to be as wet as yours and it led to problems throughout the process. Final balls were never smooth. Should I use a little more milk? I followed the recipe exactly. Maybe I didn’t knead it enough?

  • Sussane Login on November 23, 2021

Chef John – please answer!!! 🙂 Can I make these rolls the night before Thanksgiving? If so, how do I keep them fresh?! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! 🙂

  • Elizabeth R on November 25, 2021

Awesome! Can a single large pumpkin shaped loaf be made with this recipe baked at the same temperature?
