    The way this was worded made it sound like the weapon was a military rifle. Assault style?
    An assault weapon is usually a carbine, with Select fire (auto or semi- auto fire). This weapon was neither. Next the weapon never left Wisconsin. It was purchased, stored and used in Wisconsin.
    As far as the actual case goes, he is due his property back since he committed no crime.

    Now, will the real criminals be arrested that caused so much destruction? Probably not.

    The gun was purchased in Rusk County, Wisconsin not Illinois. 16 year olds are allowed to carry rifles in Wisconsin, give him his lawfully owned firearm back.
