I’m so glad I clicked on this video first. Definitely going to try these and I won’t wait for them to cool off either lol

Using need crumbs instead of flour is far better. Flour just makes it mush inside. And the bread crumbs make a much crisper exterior.

I'm straight. But I do love you. Your wit brings a tear to my eyes as I laugh with your non stop zingers!

Instead of "self rising" flour, can I use flour and baking powder separately?

  • Phil Bourassa on December 9, 2020

This recipe looks outstanding! Exactly the kind of party food I like.
Question: I'm guessing there's no reason these can't be prepared ahead and frozen for later use? I know the bottom may not be has hard, but overall would they maintain integrity?

We like to prepare batches of things and then vacuum seal them for freezing. These I would probably freeze first on a tray and then vacuum seal after the fact so they don't get crushed. These would be great to have on hand for impromptu gatherings.

Bisquick, extra sharp cheddar and hot Tennessee Pride sausage. Don't need anything else!

  • Batotit Oftwotree on December 11, 2020

Before it went into the oven, there are like 35 sausage cheese balls. Once they are on the plate, there are barely 20 left. lol, that is how you know you cook something tasty 😀

  • Jim G on December 14, 2020

Have you tried making these with Mexican chorizo and pepper jack cheese?

  • cybersean3000 on December 16, 2020

    Oh, yeah! Toothpick don't lie!

  • Jac Shank on December 16, 2020

    I’m not even drinkin’….. allegedly…. snort cough….

  • Jon Doubleyou on December 24, 2020

Are these better than Schwetty Balls?

  • GonjaGrowinGirl on December 28, 2020

And most importantly, "damp hands make smooth balls"
    Handy lil tip at that!

  • Heather Contois on December 28, 2020

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have been trying to figure out how I was making them wrong and this helped. I've given up meat, since my gut is happier that way, but my family love these and will have no problem eating them when made.

Hey John, how are you. You really made me smile, way more than once, today watching your videos between the misery of repainting apartments when Rob, my friend and business associate, take break. I am 64, he's 55, and we have cooked as well for $$ in our lives, we prefer the cooking to the painting & enjoy your presentations. You have a wonderful way of expressing, really enjoyed the sausage balls as I was allegedly drinking some Vodka and I had some good chuckles listening. You take care and thanks for sharing!

  • John Treble on February 22, 2021

Loved the idea of using spicy Italian sausage and green onions! Trying this very soon, thanks!

I have always just done the recipe on the bisquick box when I make these once every four years or so. Ha! Love your other takes on these things. Made your cheez-its and they didn't last a day, they were so great. Looking forward to trying your take on these amazing "imbibing-worthy" snacks.

  • Maggie H on May 4, 2021

I used to make these all the time. My late husband LOVED them. It was the traditional Bisquick recipe. Your take on them looks delish too!!

  • Sara Morais on June 3, 2021

My uncle makes this every year at Christmas time and over the past few years, it's gotten to the point where he makes two batches because he knows I clear the platter every time
