I don't think this is a controversy at all. I think it's wise for teachers and schools to discuss this topic and answer students questions with facts and honesty. You can't hide it that's for sure.

DC cops didn't need the National guard, Military or UN to come and restore order and prevent a Coup d'etat. If more DC cops had been called in earlier that day. This would have never happened. If the security guys weren't holding the doors open for the crowd. This never would have happened. Portland, Chicago, and other major cities where allowed to be burned, looted and otherwise be destroy all summer long. Nothing was done about that either. How would teaching about Jan. 6 th be any different from any other history lesson? It's irrelevant whether or not the facts about what happened annoy people of a certain political persuasion. If people want a completely impartial view of what happened then just "roll the tape" and let the children see what happened.
