What temp for the oven? Specifically an oven thats hotter than what the temp gage says.

Never understand why this recipe can't be done on the hob at a very low light. Pot is full of liquid so can never exceed 100 deg C so basically meat is stewed/boiled/steamed/braised or whatever you want to call it. Nothing wrong with that but why use an inefficient oven? No one would boil a pan of broccoli in the oven. Unless you're in a commercial kitchen where the oven is always on, of course.
Personally I think brisket lends it's self better to a BBQ flavour or smoked , get those spices and and lock in that flavour I wouldn't really use brisket for a traditional Sunday dinner
