Excellent 👍👌😀
I guess so this is not chilli crab 🦀 its differnt
Singapore is one of the most beautiful counties I have ever been to
just suck that meat right out mhmm
00:27 so what you go to you local brothel? Or the back alley?
I’ve been to Singapore a couple of times. It’s very, very beautiful like an extra large Miami as you’re exiting Miami International into the amazing Oxford Street (or is it Orchard St.?) which is quite stunning really during the Christmas holiday season. It’s extremely expensive though but I go back in a New York minute.
I wonder (hope actually) if green crab could be used in this recipe. Its an nonnative invasive species around here, not as "meaty" as other species. That said, if you can't beat 'em, eat'em.
"Alone, naked, in the bathtub" — title of your sex tape..
Seafood restaurants in Singapore provide single use aprons to patrons when they order this dish. LOL
This is not Singapore Chili crab. You need way way more Chili sauce. If you can taste crab you don’t have enough Chili sauce. This is why Singapore Chili crab is overrated. This is probably much better. And yes I live in Singapore.
How about Typhoon Shelter Crab?
Singapore black pepper crab and chili crab are national dishes …awesome ….
I've had Chili Crab in Singapore. Awesome but boy does the sweat break out on one's forehead. Sitting in a seaside restaurant located on the road to the International airport you scan the large aquariums where the live and just caught seafood resides waiting for you to point it out and select how you want it prepared. I went for the famous "Chili Crab". You are located on the Equator in a tropical humid environment on the seaside wharf where boats continually bring in ore fresh catch. Yikes, several ice cold beers saved the day. Memorable.
Dude! You didn't cut the tip of the leg off?
I had crab in Vancouver, BC a long time ago and it was similar to this. Man, it was so damn tasty. Gonna make this for New Years Eve.
Eat it alone, naked, in the bathtub " crack me up
I don't expect to hear from you but I was wondering would it be possible to buy a Can of already shelled crabmeat bought a pound/16 ounces and use this sauce and that me and save me the messy problem of having to pick up all the legs shells and other stuff and try to dig the meat out. Every time I order Alaskan King crab are usually end up wearing about half of the crab rather than getting it inside my mouth and therefore to my stomach and it just goes down the drain when I shower. I'd rather not be feeding the sewer rats. I was thinking I could even use the imitation crab meat because that's less than half the cost of real crabmeat. I figure that if I'm the boss of what I eat and cook if you just follow your recipe and use whatever kind of fake or real crabmeat I can get a hold of. I saw it cost about $90 a pound to have Maine crabmeat mailed to me. That's a tad more than I'd be willing to spend for a pound of steak. Hell, They used to give this stuff away as either slave food or prison food. Maybe they should have a ban on all crabbing for about 10 or 20 years and that this sees recover for that matter they should do the whole thing for all fishing.
Tamarind is in HP sauce
There's also a black pepper alternative if anyone wants to try it.
Sorry. Nobody gets caned in public in Singapore. And caning is not for drunken disorderly actions.
I feel obliged to ask: Given the crab's already cooked so it's not like the meat's cooking in the sauce, why not just make the sauce separately and use it as a crab dip vs having it on the shells and making the meal even messier?
Using imitation crab. Thanks!
Ok… I'm in the bathtub. Garcon…. Serve me.
Love you, Trailer Park shallots!!
As a Singaporean, I'd say this is ONE of the many ways we cook our famed Chilli Crab. It's good except that I'd make 2x the amount of sauce 🙂 and pair it with brioche buns if you cannot get Mantou (chinese steam buns that you can put into the deep fryer too)
This Syracuse alum loved the Donovan McNabb shout-out!
Made this tonight an it was tasty 😋
I consider myself a Chef John connoisseur. This is his finest work.
Wheres the wok.
