The first time I heard the word Schmear was when ordering a bagel with cream cheese in a New York deli. The other option was a schlab of cream cheese. And of course smoked salmon a.k.a. Lox. This “schmear”is a great looking alternate.

I think the word schmear is jewish, and they know their fish, schmear, schmaltz, schlameel, schlamazle, they got it and it is kosher and healthy
A schmear of cream cheese spread on a pumpernickel bagel – ah, memories of commuting to NYC and Zarro's Bakery in Grand Central Terminal, where you could get a schmear or a schlab of cream cheese… a schlab you cut off the block of cheese. But I always enjoyed a good schmear. Now I need to find a decent bagel – not easy in rural upstate New York….
If you're paying by the pound then it doesn't matter how much air is whipped into it….

It's completely obvious to everyone that you're faking it because you have countless hours of content where you don't talk this way. Why do you do this? Do you think it makes people watch more of your videos? I just don't understand it. It's SO odd. It's distracting. It makes me enjoy your videos less than I would if you just talked normally. Sorry for being hung up on this, but as someone who is new to your content it's just SO off putting when you talk like a maniac 🙁

Hey, 4 years late to the party! I adjusted ingredients a bit (sub crushed garlic for dill, sub cayenne for smoked ancho) and did a shredded pheasant schmear with this as a base! We went through over a pound of it before Thanksgiving!

The best tasting schmear is a pap-schmear.
The word "schmear" should never be anywhere near food just like you would use caution to avoid contaminating anything where meat has been prepared.

My Yugoslavian step dad called our salmon dip schmear. Ever since it is schmear.
When Brooklyn got a minor league baseball team, there was some discussion over what would be an appropriate name for the team. The Mets choose to name it after the roller coaster ride, the Cyclone. My entry was/would have been "The Brooklyn Schmear." I imagined a logo with maybe a cartoon baseball character riding a wave, only a wave of cream cheese, somehow.
smoked fish goes great with dill because the smoked fish is rich and salty and the dill is pungent and zesty. just an FYI
18 dollars a pound for air? But air doesn't weigh anything. they value this stuff by the pound, not by volume
I love watching your vids but even if they whip more air than needed into it, if it's sold by weight you're not getting grifted. Now if it's by volume, yeah you'd be paying more for air.

Feeling super lazy? Costco has smoked whitefish salad, two pound container for $12. Flavor is so addictive it's not even funny.
Great with avocado on a salad or good quality deli rolls. I'm sure Chef John's is way better, but it's good to have options

You are a blessing – my son canned some freshly caught smoked trout (& a jar of smoked salmon) for me, and I’ve been in a quandary for what I want to do with it, so it’s sat for too long unused. This is so perfect & kind of assures it’ll actually be eaten. Thanks!

If you ever saw HGTV's Fixer Upper, you would hear schmear in another context. When bricks aren't pretty, it's a German practice to put a light, irregular coat of plaster on them.
