I feel compassion for the children, based on both parents, not just the father. The mother sounds like an absolute Trumper! And as far as her last comment that we can "go to hell, I'm going back to Texas"… it seems she thinks the two are mutually exclusive and actually refer to her only.
The son may well be the salvation for the family, in the long run, if he gets the support he needs (this is no small impact on all members), so I hope he can avail himself of some counselling as well.
Jackson, my good friend abandoned his parents many years back while he was in college. He is a better person for it, he has a successful life with a very good job and his own family, and decent people for friends.
