I get a lot of requests from college students for fast, cheap, and easy recipes, and I can’t think of a more perfect offering than this Spicy Tuna Rice Bowl. Having said that, this is one of my favorite things to eat, and I’d enjoy it regularly even if it were slow, expensive, and hard to make.

    Video would have been a lot shorter if you just said "add two cups of cooked long grain rice, fluff with fork". Watching rice cook is literally watching water boil (or in this recipe "simmer"). It was a colossal waste of time watching you cook rice and eat the product at the end. More of my time lost watching needlessly long Youtube videos.

    I eat raw uncooked tuna with rice all the time. Only tamari and wasabi. The raw tuna is way better.

    To be honest, I really could not stand the way you narrate your videos. 10 or 15 videos later, I adore those small details – like how the pepper-chopping could be more exciting. Kinda love the narration now. Merry Christmas from Denmark

    Love your work, but you need to buy a rice cooker. They're not expensive. Also, wash your rice more. There are people right now receiving a beating from a chef in Asia for not washing the rice.

    This is also perfect for an easy version of Baked Sushi trending in Asia right now. Put cooked rice in a Pyrex dish, spread this yummy tuna recipe on top then put sriracha or Japanese mayo (kewpie) bake for 10-15 minutes at 350’ oven. (optional: May put additional toppings on top like avocado, etc). Then take a spoonful of this rice sushi, put in individual seaweed nori sheets, enjoy!

    Healthy stuff
    I did the same with topping it with some grilled vegetables and roots
    Sweet potato’s , broccoli, great beans , and carrots.
    Was wonderful and my guests were pleased thinking I have must spend hours in the kitchen to prepare them this meal but in the honest truth it took me only 45 mins to prep and put everything on the table with some wine and cold beer 😉

    I make some variation of this dish almost daily for lunch. Swap out the tuna for leftover meats such as chicken thighs and steak. Even put a fried egg on top and dash in some MSG. Thank you Chef John for a great dish!

    Make this all the time. I boil the rice in veggie stock though and add corn or chickpeas. So good. Kids love it, too. But get some good tuna, not the cheapest can in the store.
