As non – American I've always thought those sketchy doctors from the Simpsons were fiction 😄 I guess, i was wrong

  • @CozmicFirefly on April 29, 2024

As someone who has worked in the medical field for the last 20 years, there is a shortage of doctors, which is why they are so hesitant to get rid of any of them.

  • @alextoft9199 on April 29, 2024

John Oliver is like if you ordered Ben Elton on WISH! 😂

Not only that, doctors have a large legal war chest

  • @geekgirl_luv4262 on May 1, 2024

“He didn’t understand the requirements of the medication he was prescribing” isn’t a reason to take back disciplinary action, it’s a reason for disciplinary action. You shouldn’t be allowed to prescribe highly addictive pain medication when you don’t even know the pain management requirements.

I started my career in healthcare when I turned 18 as a nursing assistant in skilled nursing. I’m 25 now working in radiology and waiting for X-ray school. I’ve worked with some phenomenal doctors and I’ve worked with doctors who willingly and regularly disregarded sterile technique during sterile procedures. I haven’t had a long career, going on 7 years. But I’ve seen some truly appalling things. Most of my colleagues have been and continue to be amazing people and care providers, but being in a position to provide life altering if not potentially life saving care and disregarding the most basic practices in favor of shortcuts or negligence shouldn’t be allowed in a field like healthcare. It’s scary.

Oh no, moments of this video are so very very horrible and so very very terrible.

I had to turn a Doctor 🧑‍⚕️ in my Red State. The Medical state board validated my complaint and he went to court 4 years later. He takes care of hospice patients now. The dead cannot complain.💙🇺🇸 Then after that a surgeon put 2 parts in me wrong- I had to get sliced and diced again and have the right two parts in. You just can’t make this up.

  • @JoshMarshain on May 2, 2024

Fuck is this country doing? The amount of insane and clearly awful shit that is allowed to go on unfettered is an embarrassment.

  • @sirenagarrido3836 on May 3, 2024

This people or supposed “doctors” are con most of them are more interested in money and liability if you’re lucky someone treated you but how can you denounced that no one is interested in helping or treating you mostly when they don’t understand the combination of symptoms mine keeping repeating the same test over and over and the test keeps saying I am ok. So complaining for years f the same thing they don’t get that I don’t win anything about complaining maybe I an “crazy” they label you and you are finished. This is business your life or health is a commodity they don’t care if you are live or die you are not their family so if you depend on them forget it. I am 9th an this a new experience for me this is happening about 5 yea4s probably the more impossible because I am old and need help😊

  • @denise9811169 on May 4, 2024

I love John Oliver, but I am concerned that despite his disclaimer at the beginning that this is not a takedown of doctors that is not how most people will see it. While the examples rec sites are egregious, they are balanced by a doctor being investigated by the Medical Board, despite having no complaints and, Having patients who gave him numerous character approvals. A large number of the “sexual misconduct “complaints involve consensual relations between the doctor and the patient . I even know of a psychiatrist who married someone several years after they stopped being his patient after being married for several years, they divorced, and the spouse reported him to the Medical Board for unethical, sexual relations with a former patient [herself).

  • @ricardopecanha378 on May 4, 2024

Only victims association will be able to have sime action. Looks like justice and governments don't care at all about this.

Dr Arroyo, if you're reading this: we're on to you.

  • @sadeghpoozesh661 on May 4, 2024

Bullshit from lefties. If u knew how hard it is to get md training and have nights after nights shifts and sleep deprivation, u would understand how costly and how laborious it is to become a Dr. If the state board make it easier to fire Dr then u John asshole would pay more, and wait more to get an appointment. You social agenda is disgusting

  • @MrGoodWeeds on May 4, 2024

  • @yarzcl2558 on May 5, 2024

They treat nurses like crap. They are thrown under the bus by hospitals, and state boards.

  • @winstonsmith935 on May 5, 2024

Wrong baby, someone stuck the wrong tag on the wrong child, the doctor should have asked their name and date of birth.

I did this, i did that. As a doc or i know a doc.
    Stfu. Honestly.

  • @sunshinerainbowshrimp on May 6, 2024

Not American, but in my first year of residency i was working 36 hr shifts twice a week and 12-15 hrs per day the remaining but ofc that doesn't include surgical days when it would get stretched to close to 20hrs/day, having to work wards after 12, 18hrs surgeries..
And it's a high-stakes job requiring constant, extreme, focus and responsibility
add academic work and being able to sleep 4 hrs a night was a luxury
Add to that a horribly toxic environment where your superiors believe yelling you out at every opportunity, tearing you down, will 'toughen' you up and thereby make you a better surgeon…

Do you know how scary it is to watch yourself lose all empathy? Theres a point of utter constant sleep deprivation and emotional and mental fatigue when it all reaches a breaking point gradually… insidiously..

Tbh 3 yrs later my work environment has significantly improved but it's left me way more callous than i'm comfortable being, if i really think about it. It makes me function well and skillfully but my ability to actually care or invest emotionally is extremely shallow

Thats what our training system sets out to do.

What do you call the student who passed last on the medical exam? "Doctor" 🙄

  • @Xhumed on May 8, 2024

One of the recurring themes of LWT is that you cannot rely on professions to perform oversight on themselves: not cops, not aircraft manufacturers, not doctors, not politicians, not Supreme Court Justices…

  • @StonedBodhiSattva on May 10, 2024

Y'all need to cover the epidemic of Veteran suicide. Multiple studies have shown reports of 20 to 45 Veterans committing suicide every single day. According to a study by Brown university, about 30,177 Veterans, just post 9-11, have died by suicide, which is FOUR TIMES AS MUCH AS THOSE THAT ACTUALLY DIED IN COMBAT.
According to a 2022 report by the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, nearly HALF of ALL US service members have seriously considered suicide since serving their country.
I am an Army Infantry Iraq War Veteran with PTSD, hearing loss, tinnitus, a stab wound, and severe depression, and I myself have tried to kill myself. It obviously didnt work.
45 Veterans who served their country KILLING THEMSELVES EVERY SINGLE DAY IS SOMETHING THAT NEEDS ADDRESSING
and you know what helps us?
    Weed!
Cannabis has shown time and time again to help us Veterans with our problems, that the V.A. simply isn't equipped to do.
If cannabis is federally legalized then studies could be further conducted to PROVE just how effective and helpful it is, not just for us Veterans, but for all Americans.
John, I implore you to read this serious comment and really consider doing a presentation on Veteran suicide.
I know it's a dark sad topic that not much comedy can be pulled from, but it's a very serious issue that needs serious attention.

I had a nurse mock me while i begged for air until i passed out after surgery. Then who preceded to say i was a difficult patient when they had to resuscitate me.

  • @brauliosebastianpazperea4709 on May 12, 2024

Suddenly the episodes in which dr. House is investigated seem less dramatic…

  • @Melissa-tw2gp on May 13, 2024

Our entire family’s life exploded after a doctor’s negligence caused my dad to have continuous strokes. He lost function in his dominant hand, eyesight, memory, and had to have major brain surgery. He couldn’t work (he was a musician training to be a nurse), he couldn’t write. We got absolutely nothing. It would have been one thing if the doctor was apologetic, but he lied and the hospital covered for him.

Even fully insured, we were fucked financially for decades.

Dad would have probably died if a nurse hadn’t stepped in and told my mom she had to demand a superior, that this man was allowing my dad to slowly lose brain function.

I don’t know how heroes like her handle having to work with some truly evil people. It’s such a mix of incredible people and bastards in medical care.

  • @olotocolo on May 14, 2024

"I'm not telling all or even most doctors are bad, but it would servel all of them especially the good ones to fix this mess"

good, now apply this to police you regularly bash, with out of context malicious jokes.
Or just admit to pushing propaganda, because there is very very little difference between this story and ones about bad cops. Yet ones are butt ofa joke while others you twice disclaimed are mostly good people

  • @SMunro on May 15, 2024

You remember hannibal lecter tv serie how he was a serial killer… he was a doctor in minesota as well.

"And when the patient woke up, his skeleton was missing and the doctor was never heard from again! Anyway, that's how I lost my medical license."

  • @ryanwalker4660 on May 16, 2024

how is this different then getting a business license

  • @grey_wolf_tg2235 on May 16, 2024

It's ironic because I think you mentioned a board for medical insurance or pharmaceuticals didn't have a single doctor on it, and the medical board holding doctors accountable doesn't have a single outside source on them to prevent conflicting interest in decision making.

  • @Noe_The_light_wins777 on May 31, 2024

Your right ! Narcissistic and psychotic Dr need to be exposed!
There is many wolves in sheep’s clothing( doctors coats ) .
Look at weed , we were told it’s bad , now it’s legal because the government can tax it , but for years we looked weed / cannabis , we criminalized people, looked them up and treated them as junkies and liars because they said it helped with pain , swelling ptsd etc , so now people in pain who took pain meds get look at at junkies so the government can replace them with the taxable weed , so chronic ill individuals in pain be dehumanized for taking pain meds , they got them taken and not replaced with anything that’s safer ( methadone ,steroids) that weaken your bones and liver , so now , now many of them got their pain meds taken so they will now be so desperate for pain relief that they will go to marijuana clinics so the states politicians can tax it, make money , add chemicals to it like big pharmaceutical companies and use it to make people more sick in a different way . Good way for population control while making good tax , good way to advance mental illness so they can justify mass policing . Scary times . So , now we are told weed it’s a superfood and good for us to eat , good for swelling etc ( good to be disillusioned and easier to control maybe )

So , I’m glad you’re shedding light on the narcissistic and sadistic doctors . You should do more episode on this. On how many Dr are narcissists in the medical field are doing sinister things and getting away with it .
There are some very narcissistic doctors who look real good in academics and google reviews however they are narcissistic so when they get a patient who don’t fit their box for compliance ( usually happens to females , Christians and immigrants ) that don’t fit their ideology or lust of this years diagnosis or who they feel is not worthy of their time or respect ( government insurance, different religious ideas , sex ,or little over weight ) they tend to discredit or dehumanize the patient( gas light )
This really needs light shed on it . It’s sinister what some Medical and dental professional do to gaslight . is a real problem and many providers get away with it because they know how to do their paperwork and look good on paper and they are protected like. It’s like they cover for each other like gangsters . And sadly , Not many will believe the patient over a Dr especially when the narcissistic Dr has flying monkeys . It’s a real evil that needs to be exposed . I’m glad you’re exposing it . There is probably many people being harmed in the name of science / medicine and they don’t even know it because it’s covered up and they are gaslit .

Bible warns about this too ! The Greek word pharmakeia appears in Galatians 5:20 and Revelation 18:23. Terms from the same root word appear in Revelation 9:21, Revelation 21:8, and Revelation 22:15. These are typically translated into English as “sorcery,” “witchcraft,” or “sorcerer.” Ancient Greek uses of pharmakeia closely mirror the generic modern English word drugs ; the same Greek root word produced English terms such as pharmacy and pharmacist.
