Preserves are made with whole fruit, jam/jelly is from the juice.

Hey just want to mention to anyone making this, that it's super easy to make small crepe cakes for individual servings. They look really beautiful and you don't have to worry about them falling apart when you cut into them. We do dark chocolate ones with powdered sugar and raspberries at Christmas. Just a thought.

How can we make this gluten free?

I don't pull out my crepe maker very often because it's 65+ pounds, but you inspired me to make something similar with blueberries and cream cheese. Got the ingredients on my list for my next trip to town. Thanks!

Do you cover this with plastic film in the refrigerator?

  • Just tried this recipe! Absolutely delicious! Though I did one thing differently. What makes this cake unreal is if you put crushed nuts and/or tiny chocolate bits in between the layers! It makes for great texture. Really recommend it!

You know… this is cool and all.. but I enjoy my crepe just fine as a crepe with nuttella… no cake required…

YUM! Turned out Fantastic! Love using silicone brush with butter on non-stick pan – makes cooking crepes so much easier! Thanks! I added 2 TBSP of Dulce De Leche to the cream/mascarpone mix. YUM!!! XOXOXOX

Basic differences between Jam and Preserves…
Jam is made from crushed fruit. Albeit, may contain small cuts/pieces of fruit.
Preserves are made from chunks, e.g., Strawberry Preserves are most usually halved, of fruit.
Personally, preserves have much better flavor.

Wow! At 1:55 there's something that I know that a pro chef doesn't!
Jelly has no obvious bits of fruit in it
Jam has some discernible bits of fruit, usually mashed (hence the seeds in raspberry or blackberry jam)
Preserves have relatively large chunks of fruit (hence the cherry halves in cherry preserves)
Marmalade has chunks of the rind, and is only made with citrus fruits

About 4yrs ago, I made this for my teenage daughter. I finished it with chocolate ganache and chilled it for her birthday. It a was amazing

Basically, the difference between jelly, jam, and preserves is the chunkiness of fruit in them.

My ex in-law use to make this and she called it stack cake. Apple butter in between each layer. I asked her if she made fruit cakes and she said I guess you could call this fruit cake. Way off … nothing alike! The stack cake was not worth making or eating.

The trick is to not fill much in the center. Helps build up sides and stable it.

"Crepes are like snowflakes", I wish they really were,…. I'd could eat them all day.

  • GuyVader Productions on June 24, 2021

I made this some what successfully. I may have used to much cream for the first 2 layers and it ended up being only 9 layers high. My crepes were probably bigger then yours also. And one other thing, I put fresh (sliced) strawberries on a couple layers!

  • Karmen Demirchyan on October 13, 2021

I would prefer eating without chilling even if it falls apart, don’t like cold crepes. It’s just me.

  • Toni Lyons on November 7, 2021

Gorgeous!!! I wonder if you could short step with cream cheese and heavy whipping cream together. more sticky glue for the layers
