(2022 and I can’t believe race is still an issue) honestly, I would take myself elsewhere to study. You are better than the University that discriminates.

  • Nil Nil on May 1, 2022

If there was fair merit based admissions, all the college's would be filled only by Asian students, so let's build a system that discriminates against their rights to create diversity. Lol

  • Nil Nil on May 1, 2022

Total B.S. fake news, you'll hardly find any Asian/Indians in support of a system that is designed to discriminate against themselves. Why can't our academic merit determine the outcome rather than race baiting.

That poll isn't honest imo. Yes a bunch of Asians may say they don't mind Affirmative Action but they clearly don't want Black competition. Black students still deal with tons of racism FROM Asian students in these high schools and colleges. While the Right is trying to divide the Black and Asian communities, they don't need to do much. The Asian community was never that close with us.

  • Dick Interritus on May 1, 2022

Just pick whatever race and gender you feel would give you the greatest advantage. Or just keep race and gender out of the admissions process all together. That way discrimination is not being used to create equity, which is not equality.

As the debate over college admissions policies reignites, a new Pew Research Center study finds that most Americans (73%) say colleges and universities should not consider race or ethnicity when making decisions about student admissions. Just 7% say race should be a major factor in college admissions, while 19% say it should be a minor factor.

  • P B on May 1, 2022

Time to fix the Supreme Court. It needs an equal number of Republicans, Democrats and Independents and we need to change out the chief justice to an independent. We definitely have to add more seats.

  • THE JACK HQ on May 1, 2022

Overall, affirmative action can be executed in a different way because it is clear that people are still not happy. There needs to be an emphasis and perhaps even regulatory reform as it pertains to expanding these campuses and/or locations of campuses, so that admission rates of all races can go up more practically speaking. This way you do not have to decrease admissions of Asian American students, for example.

  • THE JACK HQ on May 1, 2022

As a result, I do believe that even if the U.S. Supreme Court declines to block these changes, they should give a strong regulatory recommendation, so that no one feels left out. Or at the very least, ensure that almost NINETEEN PERCENT of people removed (pertaining to AAPI) don't get left out. You can be imperfect, but that's not just a leaky bucket, that's a waterfall.

  • R H on May 2, 2022

We have a "hyper-conservative" Court? Switch one seat to the conservatives and it becomes hyper?

  • elitepanda3000 on May 2, 2022

No this was about dumbing down schools so as no to hurt the feelings of lazy students, former mayor dinlasio tried to do that and failed

  • autishd on May 3, 2022

This is a discussion on a discussion on diversity where there is alleged discrimination against Asians and not a single Asian on the panel.

  • Yongho Minale on May 6, 2022

I think it's funny that Whites lose no matter what happens. Race neutral means Asians win Diverstity promotiion means African Americans and Hispanics win. I suspect the GOP is going to drop their whining about affirmative action soon.
