Born and raised in Massachusetts. We are a country of many Faith's. No One Faith has control over the public space. No you can't force the government to support a religious faith. No the government should not support religious. No money for religious schools.

The separation of church and state is a constitutional necessity…it is one of the things this Country is based on…it is our protection against ALL forms of religious discrimination and the over reach of any church…there is no muddle here…government has no right to allow it

  • C. Evans180 on January 22, 2022

If they are going to do something like this, then at least include the symbols of other major religions on the flag so there’s equal representation, not favoritism of just one.

  • E Randco on January 22, 2022

There only needs to be an American flag on government or public property. Perhaps a state flag on state government buildings is appropriate. All others can be flown on private property. Case resolved.

WHY the hob is there any question whether a religious article of any sort should be displayed on any governmental building in the USA? Does Boston want a statue of satan on the front lawn of city hall???

  • Stephanie Krogh on January 24, 2022

What about the Chinese Flag-Boston seems to have flag issues.
My vote-only the American flag. Period.

  • DevSarman on January 25, 2022

As a Christian myself, that flag is only represents American oriented Christianity and Churches originated from United States, not Christians worldwide, keep in mind tho', why only American Protestants who always raises that flag. It would be better to be set on fire since it only promotes sectarianism within Christianity. And speaking of sectarianism, the early settlers of Boston and Massachusetts in general were of sectarian and zealot Puritans.

  • Elizabeth Coleman on January 26, 2022

It not Government Speech to have a flag Pole there fore any flag can be flown.

  • sandra morey on January 27, 2022

Separation of Church and State. When I was in 3rd grade Istarted a new school. First day, we saluted the flag &sang "Onward Christian Soldiers" As a Jewish kid, 1 year after WW2 ended,
I didn't know the song. My teacher embarrassed me in front of the entire class and sent me home with the words, telling me to learn it overnight. My mother was in the Principal's office
immediately. I was part of a class action that went to the Supreme Court and WE won! I have very bad feelings about Onward C.S. to this day. No religious flags on City Hall. Period

  • Zenodotus Of Athens on January 28, 2022

The point is the city of Boston did not maintain "government speech" doctrine by opening the flagpole up to 60 different flags. In essence the flagpole became akin to a public park where a person can say "Jesus is Lord." Boston therefore screwed itself.😂🤣
