'The closet is bare': Aid to Ukraine depletes US weapons supply ctm magazine

Thanks to the United States and its allies, javelin and stinger missiles are flooding into Ukraine. But there’s a side effect to providing the eastern European nation military aid. CNN’s Alex Marquardt reports why US weapons inventory is running low and how some say those numbers can be boosted. #CNN #News

  • d3sign3r on May 18, 2022

1: America has sent roughly 1/3 of their Javlin stocks (and roughly similar for Stinger)
2: Javlin/stinger are good, but its outdated 40 year old tech that America doesn't even need (America has other, better weapon systems that do the same job)
3: America is by far the most powerful military in the world, to suggest that losing 1/3 of a couple of old 80s manpads in any way impacts America's defence is absurd

When Taliban took over democratically elected government in Afghanistan why didn't US and Europe sent weapons to help fight for freedom. After all Taliban came from neighboring country and walked all over the country which was an invasion This Ukrainian war is façade shows double standard in international politics. In fact Europe has much more to loose out of this war and will make them weaker . Nato should not even exist as its relic of past which was deterrent used when USSR existed. If Nato is given credence of existence after collapse of Soviet Union than Russia rightfully needs to redraw its boundaries again to time of USSR counter this deterrent .

The United States is so full of s*** you know there's $400,000 that's missing everyday at the Pentagon they can't find that but they got a lot of nerve to put a story like this on they find money for what they want to find money for like chasing Bin Laden around for years when they knew he was but they can't find any money for the school children's pencils and paper this is the kind of scam that's been pulled over the American taxpayer since when the United States is full of a lot of scams and this is one of them

arms manufacturers need to move the old stock, New stuff means continued profits. Ukraine has been the best advertisers for the quality of our weapons. Russia will see their future orders and sales drop off. Point proven send Ukraine the weapons to move the battle to Russian soil. Russian propaganda will not be able to spin this as a win and Putin as a winner. The Russian people will give Putin the way out of the box he has put himself into. Even the most patriotic Russian will stop the fighting if Ukraine is willing to leave Russian soil. Putin is well aware that regardless of his connections to the FSB, his own personal guards and loyal private shock troops when the people have had enough he is done for.
America's shame will be if the world sees this war as a proxy war that was prolonged in our own interest and left Ukrainians to be made an showroom for its military hardware including the latest in Russian technology. … Humor aside, Russia threats of escalation should not dictate Washington or it actions. If it escalates beyond the Ukraine the world knows who is to blame.

This is what happens when your country’s “leader” is blackmailed and owes debts to foreign groups and politicians. It’s almost like Hunter Biden laundering money for his dad through Ukraine isn’t just a coincidence…

Disinformation news is broadcasted exclusively by CNN. The masses have been brain washed by all the former staffers of Clinton administration that now are employees of CNN. Do not watch these liars. The Rusia hoax, the lies about the Hunter Biden lap top, and the cover up of the most inept/senial POTUS. People believe the BS about inflation in all areas of our lives. They craft the narrative to keep all the supporters that are left in check. Wake up America do not watch CNN.

They’re getting rid of old stock to justify the spending on shiny new & even more lethal weapon systems

  • Tony Su on May 24, 2022

Stinger and Javelin production should have been restarted when the first weapons were given Ukraine… 2019? Why restarting production only now?
In any case, my understanding is that everything being given Ukraine is drawing down US inventory FIFO, so the oldest versions are out the door leaving later generation weapons still in inventory.

I doubt that even if every Stinger and Javelin were given to Ukraine that would affect US readiness much… the US has many rendundant options for any particular mission or capability. The only real scenario that would be affected is if there is another conflict like Ukraine where the US would be uncomfortable giving that country something more modern and potentially risk loss of technology if captured.

I hope President Zelensky's knows that eventually there can't be unlimited weapons unfortunately cause we gotta protect our land…

So if I were Ukraine you need to start using the weapons sparingly, strategically and quickly start taking back land or your gonna be STUCK
