Sad thing is they've been talking about this since Columbine. Nothing has changed. We didn't do the clear backpacks… We didn't do the metal detectors…. No gun reform…. Because both sides make money off the NRA. And yes some schools did the clear backpacks for probably a month and there are some schools that have metal detectors but we shouldn't need that in our schools and our kids should be afraid to go to school.

We have guns in Canada,,,almost as many oer capita as the US….but we are not gun crazy like the Americans and we don't need to swagger around carrying them to prove how tough we are and how large our "barrels" are.

  • John Gemhunter on December 8, 2021

The problem with the message on gun rights is it's not consistent, becoming diluted whenever a tragic shooting occurs. We should realize that trying to end gun rights in America is not a reality and in my opinion is wrong. We need to send one unified message that we don't want to take America's guns, we just want common sense rules governing military style weapons, background checks and the ability of young disturbed teenagers to possess these tools of destruction when their young minds are dealing with the chaos of trying to understand who they are. Johnny Cash said it best when he wrote, I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die…Just sayin'

This is the worst argument against guns and the Republicans i ever heard

  • QueenDiva2147 on December 8, 2021

What the heck? It's just a background check!! Why is that difficult? Makes no sense!! I have to get a background check to work at Amazon and Total Wine. Geesh I am all for responsible gun ownership but lets makes sure gun owners are not mentally ill or criminals. I don't understand why that is hard! Senate is messed up because they are QaNon crazy!

"U.S. Has A 'Celebratory Culture Around Guns' Says Sen Chris Murphy". Yeah commies, it's called the 2nd Amendment. To be clear, it's always tragic when an innocent life is taken, especially when it is a child. That said, countries with fewer guns tend to have much higher rates of stabbings. Blame the people, not the weapon. Giving up a constitutional right solves nothing.

If a kid gets a gun and kill’s someone the parents should be liable too. I’m glad it’s happening with what happen in Oxford.

Multiple levels of actions means Term Limits.

If we need turnover to get it done….do that. Turn them out.

Lies. So many lies. Here are the facts without spin. when it comes to gun deaths per capita, the U.S. ranks 20th in the world, at a rate of 10.6 per 100,000 deaths — putting it on par with the Dominican Republic. Many places with high gun death rates had fewer deaths than the U.S. because of smaller populations. For instance, El Salvador produced the highest combined gun death rate of 39.2 per 100,000 deaths, but only recorded 2,500 deaths overall. When it comes to gun-related suicides, Greenland has a higher rate than the U.S. — 22 per 100,000 deaths — but 11 deaths overall.

What a great many pro-gun activists in the USA fail to grasp is that guns etc are not banned in countries such as Australia and the UK – simply put there are sensible laws surrounding weapon ownership that help to keep everyone safe.

  • Georgina on December 9, 2021

The long haul… Isn't good enough.
Australia had enough after the Port Arthur massacre of 1996. As a country the people and Australian government put it's foot down. Never again. THAT SAME YEAR the government made changes to gun laws and set up the 12 month "National Firearms Buyback Program". The 2003 handgun buyback ran for 6 months. America needs to stop making excuses. It's sickening to watch and makes America look weak.

    Guns are not dangerous.
Stupid, panicky, impulsive, unscrupulous people are dangerous, with or without guns.
Seriously. I have several guns just laying around the house and the worst thing that's happened is a stubbed toe.

  • Dorice Timko on December 9, 2021

This has been going on for over 20 years: since Columbine.
When will we ALL value human life at all stages? Especially prior to legal adulthood?

School kids don’t have the right to life but Reps are fighting for fetuses who would not likely survive outside the womb to be protected? This is so effed!

  • zwilnik on December 9, 2021

Um, what can the American people do to get gun reform and other desperately needed, popular programs passed? Vote out all Republicans. City to State to Federal. They're a failed party who won't govern, and the only option is to make them a permanent minority.

If the GOP takes Congress in a year, the US is a failed state.

I love the passive aggressive condescending attitude of this dumb host

  • Robert Lee on December 11, 2021

Boebert's who rush behavior must be called out. Selling herself as a gun toting politician will cost Cons the vote. But to put herself out there for sale to the gun lobby is an overt signal to all who support this "gun freedom" movement. The final say is at the ballot box

  • Robert Lee on December 11, 2021

the Crumbley's case will be before the courts in the next 2 years.
Boebert et al cons will dance before the cameras to mock liberal Americans.

So, the gun lobby enjoy killing children.

  • Tad Craig on December 11, 2021

Unfortunately 1/2 of the Senate/House is celebrating guns & proudly brandishing them on the Senate & House Floor. Their is no changing their distorted views & quest for POWER

Some people need to get over themselves. YOU DON'T NEED A SUPER HIGH POWERED GUN TO DEFEND YOUSELF. YOUR RIGHTS TO BE ABLE TO SHOOT THINGS ISN'T MORE IMPORTANT THAN LIVES.
