Start by installing and activating the GTMetrix plugin.
This will add a GTmetrix section to your admin area.
You will need to sign up for a free account on their site to get a API key.
After you have entered in your API keys and saved you will be able to see the summary page.
It will show you what areas need to be fixed as well as allow you to schedule checks.

I just installed GTMetrix plugin for WordPress, but the plug in has not being updated since 11 months and has not made any difference to my speed grade, I am an E before it and still am.
