TechCrunch drove a Cadillac CT6 equipped with Super Cruise. It’s like Tesla’s Autopilot and lets the car drive itself.

Another thing is OTA updates that allows Tesla to get better Selfdriving features overtime.

@TechCrunch: Can you guys point me to where you got the music from? So cool!

I would like to see more cars driving automatically as this would only create better challenges. Next thing on these cars would be to start talking to one another.

'Autopilot' and 'Super Cruise'. Not only is the technology incredible, but the marketing department has given names which inspire. Great video.

Holy shit this is awesome, the future looks bright.

Now the cars need to interact and road sign need active signalling technology (RFID) to "talk" to cars. Such RFID-tags could be included in spray paint on the road, in road signals etc. Basically, in a few years we don't need to drive anymore. We'll be driving just for fun. On dedicated tracks or areas.

You missed the biggest difference, which is that supercruise actually works.

  • Dylan Luhowy on September 25, 2017

You kind of glossed over the fact that Super Cruise is hands free, which is the biggest difference. Tesla says drivers must keep hands on the wheel at all times.

  • TMT83 on September 28, 2017

The steering wheel monitoring is cool! super cruise only works on highways and can't changes lanes

  • Justin on October 9, 2017

What is the source of this music?

  • offensive bias on October 12, 2017

Autopilot will change lanes for you.

Super cruise sounds like If cruise control was on Cadillacs in the 70s they should call it….”super cruise”

    Classic caddie

On paper Tesla system is better. It works everywhere and is available in cheaper cars. Too bad that it actually doesn't work. It's constantly doing something dangerous and beeping at you. You also HAVE to keep hands on the steering wheel. The Cadillac system is more limited but it actually works and you can LEGALLY take your hands off the steering wheel.

( or mention the 4 minute vs 75 minute refueling stop)

  • Cypress Van Horn on February 19, 2018

Tesla autopilot is not intended for use on “any road” as the video says. It is for expressways and limited access highways.

  • Cypress Van Horn on February 19, 2018

GM’s fully autonomous Chevy Bolt EVs using Cruze technologies is working in city centers and they will Be soon deploying thousands in test markets as robotaxis.

Add that knowledge to super cruise, and you have end-to-end hands free driving.

When your Nav system is outdated as soon as you drive it off the show room, autonomous driving is hard to achieve.

  • Agree with comments below- Super Cruise is Hands Free (REAL auto-pilot). Tesla requires you to keep your hands lightly on the wheel when in auto-pilot mode (FAKE auto-pilot) because Tesla might lose control at any time according to the Tesla sales person

  • Eden on May 23, 2020

If tesla had the eyes on the road camera to keep the autopilot going then it would be worth the money. I like so many others get major shoulder pain from holding or touching the wheel for longer than an hour.
