Summary of this Tutorial:

Start by installing “WordPress SEO by Yoast” plugin.

Next go to SEO, CML Sitemaps and check the box to enable XML sitemap functionality.

There will be a number of options that you can configure for your site maps or if you are unsure you can somply ignore them and click Save settings.

You will now be able to view your sitemap_index.xml with your XML Sitemap button.

Now to add your sitemap to Google Webmaster Tools you will sign in with google and click the add a site button.

You will then be asked to verify ownership so you will copy the html meta tag value and paste it into the WordPress SEO plugin.

With the verification added, when you go to webmaster tools you will see “Congratulations you have successfully verified your ownership of www.yoursite.com”.

The next screen will let you add sitemaps by clicking on the stiremaps column and pressing the “Add/Test Sitemap” button.

This video is no good to me. It assumes I already know what I am doing. For instance you say 'just install an activate the plugin..' Yeah like WTF, you jumped too many steps. What is Yoast? Or did you say Toast. Video gets a FAIL.

You need to slow tutorials down.I had to keep stopping and rewinding. Also, when I put in the sitemap – I got:

Your Sitemap appears to be an HTML page. Please use a supported sitemap format instead.

What do I do? Used Yoast plugin.
