Yemen And The U.S.’s Massive Saudi Arms Deal | The Mehdi Hasan Show ctm magazine

A $650M arms sale to Saudi Arabia will allow the kingdom to maintain attack helicopters, despite their previous use against Houthis in Yemen. The deal contradicts Biden’s policy to bar the sale of “offensive” weapons to the Saudis, so why are nearly two dozen Senate Democrats allowing it to proceed? Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) joins the show.

The Mehdi Hasan Show: Insightful reporting and probing interviews that examine the day’s events and provide a deeper level of context for the politics of our interconnected society.

So which contractor or Saudi family member got them to continue the arms sale? Just because it's not offensive weaponry doesn't mean it won't help the offensive at all. Lots of money involved most likely. 😠

    Oh, get real.
No adult expects the US to be better than anybody else. You don't need the oil, but who'll replace the Saudis as your key ally in that region ?
Just stop the propaganda over other people's "misdemeanors" when you are deep deep into your own – that's all.

Folks do we want Kinder Garden politics ? This fake committee, that is calling our elected leaders, to humiliate them has to stop ! These fools do not realise if we retaliate, it is not going to be pretty. As the expression goes, '' Heads will roll''. Stop these childish games, because you are not going to win.

I hope the confusion is feigned

the answer as usual when it comes to why are Democrats voting to give the military so much money is that the defense contractors own the politicians.

Republucans and now scotus don't care about what makes us a democracy. They want facism.

  • F3mm1 on December 9, 2021

I feel like not enough people recognize how cartoonishly evil that there is more bipartisan support when it comes to starving millions of Yemini children to death but we still have every single Republican and a handful of Dems that are aghast at the thought of funding free Pre-K and expanding the child tax credit.
I really wish dems would spend more time thinking about how their own voters precive them. It's starting to look like their ineptitude on fulfilling their campaign promises is deliberate at this point. Specially since they seem to have no issues voting yes on legislation that most of their voters find vomit inducing.

Guns and religion, greed and power, a hand full of vices does it every time. Religion isn’t the opium of the masses, it doesn’t clam people down. It catapults them into endless war. It’s the crack cocaine of the masses

  • Aziz Althibaiti on December 9, 2021

Judging from the comments, it is fair to assume that most of you guys don’t know the cause of the war because it’s easier to imagine Saudi Arabia showering poor Yemenis with advance military US hardwares because they’re evil.
Saudi is the number one donor to Yemen as per the UN public reports. The Iranian backed militia has hijacked the entire country using women and children as human shields. To be misinformed or biased, that’s your choice but to have the audacity to “online” sympathize with those poor innocent Yemenis agents Saudi Arabia to feel morally fulfilled, that’s a shame.
